Thanks Dave, you are exactly right on the money. this is why I'm a fan of the 83 to 85 QV GTB's. It's a shame some have been converted to 288 wannabes. Like I said before, this might take awhile. This may not be the easiest 308 to find.

I have an 85 308 GTB and love it. Also recently bought an 89 328 GTB. I have had GTS's (both 308 and 328) in the past and can tell you the hard tops are like an entirely different car. Sometimes I miss an open top, but the hardtops drive so much better and look so much better, I will never buy another targa. 328 GTB's are rare enough in the US, but the QV is really rare. I have been keeping records for some years and have VIN's for only 21 QV's which include some euro cars, a few that have been tarted up to look like GTO's and a couple with over 100K on them! Personally, I think 84-85 QV GTB's are the best 308's made. I wish you luck (sincerely).

I am considering selling my 85 308 GTS red/tan and get a 328. It is in excellent condition, it just won a Platinum Concours and a Coppa Bella (only 308 to win) award at the FCA meet Dallas 2001. I will give you the rest of the details when I post if you are interested. 770 712-3892

Rob,

Why are you thinking of selling your earlier 308 GTS for a QV 308 GTS?

Looking for a 308? well its not a QV but I'm thinking about selling my 77 308 GTS. I also want to upgrade to a QV GTS here very soon. I have a picture in my bio page.

I think, my email is wrong on my bio page, here is the correct email address below.

Oh man, this is getting very disappointing. I was hoping to find a GTB but the odds are against me. As I said before, this might take awhile. I would like something different than the "Magnum car" my point is you don't see very many & I guess that why I'm attracted to that style.(sorry GTS owners.)

Production numbers:

82-85 308 GTB QV-- 748
GTS -- 3042

86-89 328 GTB-- 1344
GTS-- 6068

The vast majority of GTBs were sold outside US. GTB QVs are almost never on the market (one recently in FML). 328GTBs are out there in a few numbers. I was told 7% of 328s in US are GTBs.

William, you are right about the GTB. They are extremely difficult to find a GTB QV. You are more likely to find a 328 GTB...and they only made MAYBE 100 total 328 GTBs. Only 33 in 89. I too was looking for a GTB originally, but found my GTS and absolutely love it. The GTB is a MUCH better handling car, but down here in the south, I craved a GTS. LOVE the 308s man. Its a great choice! Its got balls, sounds great, looks superb! People ask me ALL the time, if my car is a brand new Ferrari. I'm dead serious.

Thanks, my intentions were to use this as an example only, this EBAY car looks like a problem child. Paint & body work will not be a problem for me, I still would like to find a GTB. This might take a while.

Mitchell is 100% right. This one definitely need some major attention. You will be happier in the long run. Even a near perfect 308 will still need a few items attended too.

William, do not buy a car that needs a lot of work. You will want to kick yourself. I mean, if it needs seats, thats ok, if it needs a major service, thats cool too. But if it needs paint, major service, interior and some other stuff, you are better off not buying that one.

Buy the best one you can afford. If you cannot afford a decent 308, you sure as heck cannot afford to fix a beater 308. TRUST ME. Buy a good car, from a notable place or person.

William, I saw this 308 in Seattle. Buyer Beware. I was very displeased when I saw it. Try to purchase the nicest that you can.

I'm looking for a 308 QV 83 to 85 GTB but all I can find is GTS. Well, I can live with a GTS. What is a good price for one that needs work? (Remember, I have a frame machine & complete body shop!) Thanks for your help.
