Cable is capable of up to 3mb download speed, but it is usually capped by the provider to 1 or 1.5mb. It can upload at up to about 368mb but is usually capped at 128. DSL is available in different speeds, usually 768 down & 128 up to 1.5 down and varying upload speeds. In general DSL performs better overall despite a slower maximum download speed because it tends to resolve names quicker. Effectively when you click something it starts to load much faster with DSL. Keep that in mind and choose based on availability and price. Here, cable is $39/month and DSL is $49/month. I had both and I prefer DSL. |
