Ok, Cool.

Good thing I asked you guys first.

I am not going to try it :)

Hey, Ben. I'll call you for a tech day, just been busy. I want to fix my stupid slow window.

Thanks all

James

I meant to say 2nd and 4th. Ferrari claims that they set it up like this for weight reasons.

The advantage of a titanium gate is that it wont wear as quick as the stock gate. It has the shift pattern cut with a bit less of a round edge and more of a knife edge that widens, so theoretically the shifter could go faster, right... What Edwards says is entirely true. It'll really feel good (and be fast) when you engage both 2nd and 5th, by grabbing both forks, and make the inside of a trans look like a grenade went off in it.

James, once you see how the inside of the transmission works you will not consider removing that gate. The transmission is a precision mechanism that relys on the gate to position the forks correctly. You would not be able to do this by feel.

Magoo...That I understand...but I saw these titanium gates and they claim much faster shift time....I thought it was a joke....slight improvment but not faster.

Adam, I think what Ed is saying is that the gate is needed to guide the gear shift pattern. It could have been done internally but this was a much easier and less expensive way.

James, Don't do it cause you could screwup the tranny.

Edward....is the Titanium Shift gate also a waste....it sounds like it to me....

It does not work. The gate is the only thing that seperates the quadrants as the transmission has none. It is a real cheap way of making the transmission cheaper. IMHO.

Has anyone drove without the gated shifter plate? How does it feel? I saw a post somewhere before, that they said it felt like any other car. Is that true?

Maybe I'll try it this weekend.

Just hope I don't shove it it reverse :P

James
