These fellows from Malaysia (maybe?) have documented a 348->355 conversion. http://www.911zentrum.com.my/ferrari_conversion%20348%20to%20355.htm Gotta say that that I'd be more inclined to get a 355 from the get go but if you're car is damaged then it seems like an interesting option. I can't imagine that fiberglass fitting well without a lot of grief though. good luck! |

Peyman go for it bro. My only advise is keep the old parts. Hey I think your doing what we would all like to do, only thing is people are scared it will devalutate the car. Hey screw the collectors. It's your car customize it. So long as it doesn't look goofy and it is tasteful I say have at it. But keep the old parts just in case. |

PEYMAN: IF YOU THINK YOU WANT TO DO IT, GO FOR IT. WITH VERY LITTLE ENGINE WORK, THE 348 WILL KEEP UP WITH A 355, AND IF YOUR DRIVING SKILLS ARE GOOD, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PASS A GOOD MANY 355 DRIVERS, MOST OF WHICH CAN'T BEGIN TO DRIVE THEIR CARS TO THEIR CAPACITY. I ALWAY LIKED THE LOOKS OF THE 348, BUT ENDED UP WITH A 355. WHAT EVER MAKES YOU HAPPY, THESE ARE TO BE ENJOYED, NOT PICKED OVER. ART |

As long as it's reversible, go for it if you like the look better. Don't do anything that modifies the car or can't be put back. I like the looks of the 348 better, that's why I bought one. I would sure love to cram the 355 engine into it though! |

Peyman, I know some older Ferraris were rebodied and I've also seen Porsches converted to look like turbos. People have even been converting 308s to look like GTOs for years. It's just not something I'd do with a 348. But again, if it makes you happy, go for it... and post some pics when it's done! |

Bob Porsche 911's get rebodied just about every day and nobody frowns on that. It even increases the value of the car, so why would a 355 conversion be so awful, it is not like I am turning it into something it wasn't ment to be or modifying it into something strange, or painting it pink!!! |

For those who cringe at the thought of this kind of "conversion" keep in mind that rebodies were quite common in the 50's and early 60's. |

What's the value of a 348 chopped out to look like a 355? Is there a market for this... would anybody ever want to purchase a fake 355 (or is it a fake 348?)? Most likely, money isn't the issue here.... I guess you would do something like this for the fun of it??? Frankly, I don't get it. But hey, whatever makes you happy! |

I like both looks. If you had to repair it anyway, why not. Keep the old parts. The sides should come off easy as well. They are screwed in the doors. If you have the pannels off the doors you should get to them easy. Remember there are 4 screws from the outside and 4 screws from the inside! |

I have a friend who sells pop offs of both the front and rear 355 bumpers. They sell for approx. $1000.00 each. They are lighter than the originals because of the lack of steel bracing. None the less, they do look good. |
