No, I live in Tucson, AZ. That is part of what makes me a bit nervous about purchasing such a low mileage car. Thanks for the Foreign Cars Italia idea...I tend to forget they are an authorized Ferrari dealer due to the lack of 'Ferrari' in the corporate name.

Robert,

Do you live in NC? You mentioned Autosport in North Carolina. If you are serious about buying, have Foreign Cars Italia (authorized Ferrari dealer) in Greensboro check it out.

Sorry about the typo guys. I guess a long weekend watching the "big guys" race at Daytona had me a little weak in the head. Thanks for the pickup Frank.

Dilly, I would hang on to that 1987 355 of yours. It must have been a 355 prototype to come out in 1987 before the 348 even went into production !

if us car and no fraud - i think it great - if price is reasonable - i wouldnt pay more than for this car than a 3-5 K car would go for though - who else can buy a new 99 355 cause thats what u r getting - curious A or B title - that should be easy to find out - if u would get a B title and some individual owned it before - i think that would be weird ( 86 miles ) if A title - sure it sat but what can break in 86 miles - also if an A title - you would be first owner therfore i believe you would be entitled to the full warranty from purchase date

If you are seriously considering such a car, i would have it gone over by someone like Classic Coach in N.J. who does the prep work for FNA; let them tell you everything that needs to be done to make the car right, and take that into account in negotiating a selling price. Obviously, if you are not near there, i suppose you could use any authorized Ferrari dealer, but i have found that the service at these shops does vary in quality. It sounds like the car was never driven (the mileage, if not fraudulently changed, would amount to delivery miles only), and possibly, never serviced. That would be a negative, as others have indicated.

Wow that gives a whole new meaning to the term "garage queen". The car was built in May 1998 and was probably delivered to the dealer with about that mileage. The car hasn't budged in 4 years.

With DBP's comments in mind, has anyone dealt with Sport Auto (sportauto.cc) in North Carolina? If you go to the website the car I am interested in is listed in the inventory ('99 F355 black/black). I have never dealt with the company in the past and have no reason to think they are misrepresenting the vehicle, does anyone have info. to the contrary? Thanks!

Robert, I would be very concerned about a car that only had only been driven 86 miles. New cars are tested before they are shipped so they come with more milage than you may think. I just checked our records on our 1987 355, and it had 85 miles when we picked it up from FOA.

robert - your best case scenario is that it's a june or so 1999 car. so it's 30 months old. at 86 miles, your'e talking about someone putting on less than 3 miles per month on the car. i'd consider that a big concern that the car just wasn't taken care of optimally. unless the owner was painfully aware of everything they should do to get the car warmed up regularly and run out what needs to be run out, it smells weird.

my two pennies. i'm not a ferrari mechanic, so feel free to ignore me - i won't be offended ;-)

i'm in the market for a low mileage 99 too, but to me that means < 5K.

doody.

I would say you'd be better off going for a higher mileage car because of the price premium that I'm assuming you're paying for the super low mileage. One big advantage of a low mileage car is that no one has worked on it yet, and therefore no one has had the chance to break anything on it yet. Being as it's rare that someone does something like that on such a new car, I think that I would go for a 5K mile car like you said.

I am considering purchasing an ultra-low mileage (86 MILES) '99 F355. Should I have any concerns regarding the low mileage? Should I perform maintenance as soon as I purchase the vehicle? Would I be better suited going with a higher mileage (3-5,000) '99 F355? Thanks in advance for your responses.
