I keep a 50 piece of tool set from Sears in the car for utility, and the original tool kit for ... looks. |

Mike - you should have gotten points because you USED the tools instead of just having them in the car, just like you should get more points for driving the car! =D |

Don't feel bad. When I first got my 308 I got the tool kit out to see what was in there. Decided all the tools were junk, so I went out and got some better quality stuff from Sears, and threw all the original stuff away. Little did I realize at the time, but I threw away several hundred dollars worth of junk. I loose points at a concours because my toolkit isn't "original", but I could actually use it if I needed to! |

That's funny... I just had my toolkit out... first, looking for a flathead screwdriver so I could remove the panel to get to the brake fluid... the only serious screwdriver was Philips... the only flathead was a skinny thing that had no chance. Then I needed a wrench to turn the bleeder caps. Needed a 12mm... had 10 and 13 in the toolkit. Since I've had the car, I've gone to the toolkit half a dozen times... not once has the toolkit had the right size tools for the parts in the car. Quite comical so far... I've always been somewhere convenient... someday, I'm afraid I won't find it so funny. |

Hey everyone - found out something interesting today I thought I'd share - maybe save someone from being stranded with a flat tire they can't change. I was pulling off the rear tire in my garage and much to my dismay - the wrench that came with the jack didn't fit the lug nuts. Seems it is a 21mm - my nuts are 22mm!!! Really glad I found this out now instead of waiting for a flat - bought a breaker bar and 22mm socket - now stashed conveniently in the trunk. Everybody check 'em!!! |
