I actually got to go on the road course at Texas Motor Speedway in the Shelby Series 1 with Bob Bondurant behind the wheel a few weeks ago. I don't know if I was more impressed with the car or the driver. Both were superb. Also, the Series 1 was the supercharged version, pumping out somewhere around 560 HP if I remember right. And it retailed for around $185K I beleive. I also went for a ride in an FIA 289 Cobra - much different and more brutal car. |

Thanks! What'd you get for yours? The CSX was a very fun car. Much much faster than my 308. It was the first car I ever bought new, and it'll be tough to see it go. |

Don: I had 87 CSX #27* and sold it about a year ago. The car was so much fun. I only put on a nice cat back exahust and everything else was stock however the car felt like a rocket. Great handling as well for a 1987 FWD car. Nice example you have for auction there. |

Ah, the Vector. I forgot that one. Why did you have to bring it up? LOL |

Im sorry but that really was funny. Im not knocking on the car though, ive seen them run 12's at englishtown with some mods, making them fsater than alot of ferraris. |

There have been alot of articles on the series one, but mostly on problems surrounding it. They had financing problems so serious Shelby had to sell out. They then jacked up the price, even with purchasers who had put down deposits(several lawsuits were brought). But the extra funds apparently didn't help much as I've seen several harsh reviews of the finished car. I think Motortrend liked it, but com'on its Motortrend. Another guide is resale value. New they're real close to 200K. I understand used models are selling for under 100K. Caveat emptor, indeed. Personally, I think magazines have toned down the rhetoric on limited-production vehicles having learned their lesson from the Vector. |

If you are speaking of the Shelby Series 1 cars, I have never driven one however I have seen a few in person and I must say they are beautiful cars. However they are much more refined then the AC Cobras ever where. The Series 1s have useless options that just add weight and they have great engines but without the optional supercharger setup I have heard they are rather slow. I'd love to have one though! |

It dawned on me while reading recently that I haven't noticed any talk about the new Shelbys. Any of you have any experience with them to share? I have sort-of followed the drama of their development, all the more reason to hear some real hands-on stories. |
