I know I'm dredging up an old thread, but I was watching a video and wanted to share a small clip with my good friend Magoo. :-)

Bobby Unser used to drive his race car as hard as it would go. He figured it was built to last the race, no more. He had a lot of DNF's but if he finished the race he frequently won. Al Unser (Sr.) saved the car. He knew the race had a beginning, middle and end and saved the hard driving for the final stages. He fininshed most of the races and won a lot too. Two completely different philosophies and two very sucessful drivers. Bobby never had to pay for his own repairs though!

Good for you Modman,

some of you guys worry too much, you should see how the Ferrari/Lamborghini test drivers drive their cars-that is what they are made for...to be driven and to be let loose every once in awhile.:-)

Drive it how you want to. In my opinion its a Ferrari its built to go fast and thats what I would buy one for. Low powerful sports cars are the most uncomfortable and impractical things unless....YOU DRIVE IT. So Kudos on the burnouts and enjoy its yours. Anyone who doesn't drive them just doesn't understand...their loss.

I saw a video once of some Ferrari event in Italy where the 2 F1 drivers came out onto the track in their cars and did a sort of demo, racing around the track and what not. At the end they did simultaneous smoky burnouts. It was great. I wish I still had that video. I guess even the pros have to do it sometimes.

Its interesting to view the dialog between Ferrari "collectors" and "drivers". To each his own and I mean that but I hope on their death bed, the Collectors don't wish they drove their F Cars more or hit the red line more often. Its been suggested that the score isn't anymore how many toys you had, its how many toys you wore out. Peace.

Yes, I supposed all those people taking their cars to the track, actually redlining every gear on the street, and actually USING the Ferrari are completely destroying their cars. After all, Ferraris were made only to go cruising around at 65mph...

As far as I go, I'd rather buy a Ferrari that the owner fully used than one that was driven conservatively. These things arent going to break or blow up by doing any of these activities, including burnouts.

Stu, I agree with you 100 percent. They can do what they want to with their cars. Just don't bring your problems to the F.C.and cry for somebody to solve for you when you hear strange noises or blow it up. Burn on boys!!!!!!!

Hang on guys, before you get too carried away here, keep in mind that Mod asked "let me know what you think" and that's all I did! If he/you can't handle the answer then please don't ask the question!

Listen, do what you want with you cars - it's your money and none of my business! You think that kind of activity is cool - I think it's stupid. It's probably more a factor of our age differences than anything else. So, let's just agree to disagree on this one.

Peace and out!

Magoo and Stu, how is that idiotic? Have you ever gone over 100mph on your ferrari? Thats idiotic and dangerous because its easier to get killed going that fast then it is doing donuts, and you are also putting others on the road in danger. Ferraris can take the abuse, they arent weak, fragile things that have to be treated like they are made out of glass. The bottom line is that anything fun is usually wasteful and somewhat dangerous.

Oh God... I am sick of people treating their Ferraris like some sort of weekend cruise mobile. There is NOTHING wrong with every once in a while burning some rubber, doing 360's, going 165mph, going to the track etc etc. Thats what sports cars are for, and last time I checked Ferraris were sports cars.

Good Job Modman! Your 348 is not worth any less because of it, the engine isnt any weaker, and the tranny isnt going to fall apart. The only cost to that, if done right, is tires and clutch. Every now and then I wring out my 360, and it feels great.

Gotta give you credit for enjoying your car and using it in a way that makes you happy. If you ever want to sell it you might consider hiding those videos from any prospective buyers. (-:

It's your car Mod. If that is what you enjoy doing and you're not harming anyone else, I say go for it. :-) Does Ferrari make a line lock kit? hahaha

Stu, Idiotic it may seem to you but I like to know what it's like to do something like that and was really fun to do. It seems obvious that you never had done anything like this or don't know how it's done and maybe you don't want to know what its like to do something like that but you and I have different opinions but saying that it's idiotic would mean the professional driver on the video is an idiot and so are racecar drivers driving their pristine expensive Ferraris on track and wrecking them too so you see where I stand. Some people here asked to see what it looks like and at least I came through to share this. I'm wondering what have you truly experienced with your Ferrari? can you handle it when you start loosing control on a turn? A Ferrari is like any damn car on the road, it will have to deal with the elements of public daily driving. I know what you are trying to say but picture your car getting rear ended or you crash on a turn, are you going to cry about it? besides the car I'm driving will never be used for concourse or be in someones prestige collection or be a garage queen. At least I put miles on mine and enjoy it more than the majority of Ferrari owners will ever tread. Geez, why own one if you can't experience all the fun you can get out of it. I use to drive this car most of the time and I have no troubles at all with this. Well anyways to set some minds straight, this car is used for occasional daily commute, track use, and personal fun driving. This video was the first time donuts was done on this car and the last time it was done. I saw a video on the 348 of a professional driver doing tricks in that car and I wanted to see if I can do it better and sure enough I did and that was that so a video of it was all I need so I don't have to do it to this car again to prove it to anyone.

Magoo, crying is for babies and the 348 can handle the abuse, at least mine is doing fine. If you have to worry about babying a sports car then you probably shouldn't own one if you don't know how to have fun in it and besides this is not what I do all the time with the car anyways. If the car takes a dump then I will make it better so it can be a much better Ferrari. Hey someones got to find out how much these cars can dish out, and it seems most Ferrari owners are timid to do so and I really don't care how much an exotic car cost, if I own one I will take the car to it's maximum performance till it gives up. If I can't have the fun and experience in one I wouldn't have even thought of buying the damn car in the first place. And if you want to think negative about this then speak for yourself not for someone that may think like you. No need to be sorry since I'm sure most people are curious enough to see the pic and that should tell enough. Keep it real... peace...enjoy your Memorial weekend, I know I will....

SINCE YOU ASKED...Sorry Modman, I just saw your video and I think that was an idiotic and wasteful stunt. Don't take it personally, just my opinion. I would never treat any car that way - especially a Ferrari. God help the poor soul that buys your car when you're done with it!
