If you have a early TR--Replace the shock with the 512TR parts. They are stronger, and last a little longer. |

Russ, Yeah the Driver's side rear is the tricky one. I didn't change my own (my hands are too big as well), but I was there when they were changed. I'll ask my guy what trick he used for that last one. And no we did NOT remove the bonnet (hood). -Ben P.S. Expect to replace them at least once a year, from what I've found, as it's alot of weight to hold up.

Thanks Ben, I have hands like two hams it seems at times. I can see the cotter pins but it sure looks like tight quarters to get into with needle nose pliers. Have the headlights up and the rear right side can be accessed through the battery box. the other side is in there though. |

Russ, If you are talking about the "shocks" they are held in by codder pins and remove very easily. Helps if you have small hands (or can borrow a set from a cooperative friend), takes about 10-15 mins to replace both. Not a bad idea to replace the pins if you can (altho not entirely necessary), they are availbale at a good hardware store. The tops of the shocks should be completely visable. The bottoms are a little trickier...IIRC for the drivers side you turn on the headlights to access the bottom of that side. The other side I can't recall maybe thru the battery compartment... Tools suggested, a pick (pin puller) and a set of needlenose pliers. HTH -Ben |

Does anyone have any experience replacing the two cylinders that are tucked down next to the headlight pods that are supposed to support the hood on the luggage compartment? I have the parts, and the tools but am at a loss to see how one works at removing these short of removing the hood, which I am sure is not required, I hope. Any assistance would be appreciated. |
