More aftermarket HP, the less reliablity..
I'd get the 348..

I do like the looks for this 288 though, but I don't think I would buy it......

I forgot to mention that the seller claims to have bought it sight unseen three years ago for $75,000. Claims to have had 500 miles on it then, 3,000 miles now.

I'm a fan of the 288 GTO, even Bob Norwood's reproductions have been of favorite of mine. The EBAY 288 spyder is too GHETTO for me. 308's are not meant to convertibles. Your better off with a 348.

I bet the frame doesnt need to be reinforced if it started off as a GTS with the targa top. It should have the same strength as the original car with just some minor strengthening needed behind the seat area. (where the targa "roll bar" used to be) Nice looking car in the photos. Dont know if I care for that fiberglass toneau cover behind the seats though.

Has the replica's frame been reinforced, could get real interesting taking corners if it hasn't.

It seems like your trying to decide if you prefer apples or oranges. Hotrods (288 copy) are fun, but do you or your local mechanic have any experience building/servicing similar custom cars? If the answer is not yes, the 348 is the only real choice. Good luck.

Everyone knows I am a Spider man. I considered this as a relatively cheap spider, but have ruled it out unless new information becomes available.

But was curious: how would this handle on twisty roads compared to a 348 Spider? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this compared to the 348 Spider?

Talking to the seller, he said that the builder could no longer be contacted. There is no air conditioning (advertisied with). No music system.

Went to Ferrarina site. They said that difference of 0 to 60 is only a half second between a 288 and a 348. Of course the 288 has a higher top end.

Ferrarina also said that the 288 is 400 hp, ths car is advertisided as 460 hp.

I thought the 348 would be better on twisty roads due to newer technology and due to the fact that the 348 was designed more as an every day driver.

I like both, but like the 348 better.

At $60,000, I would rather spend a little bit more and buy something like this:

Also it seems that 348 Spiders are now declining about 7 % a year.

If anyone hears of a reasonable deal on a nice 348 Spider am interested in the following (of course records, inspection, etc.):

Silver with black interior (first choice)
Medium to light blue (second choice)
Red with black interior (third choice)

Red with tan (backup choice)

Is my logic sound?
