Jens, sometimes I miss the Autobahn, but if I really need to let it rip, here are some roads that you can let go as well. Went 155 Miles per hour in the 348 already. (about 250Km/h) The weather is just so much better to enjoy the car... - Florida - sunshine - 30C...LOL |

Yeah, most people using GP Legends for the first time expect the cars to stick like glue like modern race cars; but with no wings and skinny, treaded tires it takes a deft hand (and foot) to stay on course. |

Brian, that's great. I've been a GP Legends fan since the day it came out. The only problem with driving the 'Ring was that my computer always crashed before I did! Naturally, now that I have a system that can handle it, my wheel is broken. Great game though. My friends don't like it because it's too hard. Realistic, I say. |

Get GP Legends,it's great! Steering wheel/pedal controls on the PC are a must. I've been racing it for two years in preparation for my 1st trip to the 'Ring(don't know when that'll be, but I will be ready!). The game is accurate to 1967 but little has changed since. It is slightly shorter in length now with the new GP course built where the old start/finish area used to be, also eliminating the South Curve & North Curve. Highly recommended. |

Yesterday I drove my first two laps at the Nordschleife. It was just fantastic although I decided to do them with my daily driver which is a BMW Z3 1.9. Not even the strongest car but has a good handling which is not unimportant there. Got there with a friend who was my copilot. He told me what I had to expect behind the next hill!! By the way: Found a very good internet site with a good description of the track: www4.tripnet.se/~niclas/bmwsc/tracks/nurburgr.htm Tomorrow I will go again to take a look from outside to watch the other drivers at the crucial points. Although I was not there with my 348 I met a several Ferrari drivers from Britain and Belgium who just gathered on the parking strip for a final picture. What surprised me most were the great uphill and downhill passages on the track. It is very challenging but is great fun if you do not risk to much. Sadly there are nearly no crash zones beside the track so if you are leaving the road you unevitably crash the car. That is kind of disturbing for my and definitely keeps up the respect for the track. If you guys ever come to Germany to race at the Ring give me a call I can surely show you some Autobahn tracks where you can go 270km/h without a risk (Sunday mornings etc.). Thank you all for your tips and suggestions. P.S. Hey Martin: Formidable german! I have to admit that the german road signs look shitty on a 348 and that a lot of people here are real jerks but hey dont you miss the possibility to drive your 348ts as fast as you like on a highway without getting a ticket from the police? |

Don't laugh. Go get a copy of Grand Prix Legends for the PC. It has the Nurburgring in all it's 178 corner glory. You can drive around and learn the track that way. And yes, it is an extremely accurate representation of the track made from satellite maps and gps data. I can refer you to plenty of people who have learned the track this way before actually driving it and all of them will attest to its accuracy. Yes, it is a video game, but it is a great way to learn what is over the next blind rise or around the next blind corner and at the Nurburgring there are plenty. You even get to pretend to drive around in a 1967 Ferrari 312 grand prix car For more information, go here: http://www.racesimcentral.com/guides/gpl/intro/gplintro.shtml

Try this site: http://www.24h-rennen.de/index.php4?language=en&menu=news&content=text2002 Click on Spectator info and then The Nurbergring for a nice map. P.S. The Zakspeed Viper won the 24hr race at Nurbergring for the 4th time |

Jens, make sure to have your brakes checked before and put racing brake fluid into them instead of street fluid. The brakes on the 348 will give easy. You can feel them 2-3 pedal kicks before you lose them completely. I lost mine and was lucky to tell you about this without crashing my 348. RACING FLUID! Nimm keine Chance. Es lohnt sich nicht hier das Risiko einzugehen. Die Bremsen stehen zwischen Dir und der Wand! Have fun. Love to do this myself one day! |

Although I have never lapped the Nordeshliefe nurburgring myself, I have heard LOADS about it. One of my friends is a motorbiker who has given me tips: The first thing you must do is to get hold of a copy of the RUF "Faszination" video featuring Stefan Roser in the RUF Porsche 911 CTR2 "yellow bird" doing the perfect lap - its an amzing demonstration of how to drive the circuit on the ragged adge and is amazingly good fun to watch - try the RUF website. Second thing don't worry about traffic behind you - worry about traffic in front of you - you may even find buses and coaches in front of you when rounding a bend so be careful. Also Jens - bear in mind that a few drivers and about 10 bikers or more are KILLED there every year - the circuit is fast and DANGEROUS - don't get overconfident. It is impossible to remember properly (just too long) and there is no run-off area along most of the track - if you get it wrong (especially in the twtichy 348) then you will be in very very serious SH*T! Be careful. I knew a great site about the nurburgring but I can't remember now -I'll post it when I do. Good Luck, enjoy the challenge of this great great track - it is the ultimate test for both car and driver and well worth money (i think it used to be 15Marks) and for God's sake - BE CAREFUL! Manu |

Since I am living in Bonn which is just 57km away from the Nütburgring I just considered to do some laps there with my 348tb. Can anyone give me an appropriate internet site with a good and detailed description of the track. Just found some sites of some motorcycle fans but wanted some advice from people who drove sportscars there! Since I rarely do racetracks I am a little afraid of the threat that some crazy guys with a tuned VW or Opel could damage my car while driving there. Furthermore it would be great if someone could give me some tips on how to behave on the track since I am not planning to push the car to hard on such a difficult and long lap (about 22km!) Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |
