Isdera makes some great sports cars..I have heard of the commendatore 112i, its a great car with gull wing doors that expose the engine as well as the pasanger cabin..the engine sounds like a jet airplane...:-) If you buy one new I think its about 300k and you have to wait 6 months for them to build you one..

When I was in High School, My father and I went to Germany to look at a Isdera Imperator. To make a long story short we rented a Porsche so we could drive fast on the AutoBaun (sp) we went really fast, but got really lost.

I asked them about the FX. They can only speculate regarding rental rate at this point, since the purchase price has not yet been established by Ferrari.

They did say that the FX will be like the 288GTO and the F50 in their collection -- they only rent these vehicles to returning customers who have rented other Ferraris from them in the past. So you can't just walk in off the street and rent either of these 3 vehicles -- they have to know you, know your driving, and be certain you know what you're doing. Sounds fair to me.

Caught this on the bottom page:

P.S. Mark your calendar! Well have the new Ferrari FX available for rental in Fall, 2003!

Wonder how much $$$ that will be (YIKES!)

I'm sure by now you've all read your newest issues of Motor Trend, Forza, etc and are as excited about the new 575M as I am.

I just wanted to let you know that I just got off the phone with the guys in Germany from whom I rent the Ferraris every year when I'm in Europe. They took delivery of their new 575M this week, and now that they've had a chance to drive it, are telling me its the best Ferrari they've ever driven.

Even though the improvements over the 550 are only incremental, the 550 was already such a great car, the 575M is apparently just incredible. They said the power increase is very notable, and the F1 system on the 575M feels more refined than that in the 360 F1. They said it broke the tires loose when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear in F1 sport mode.

Anyway, just wanted to share. They have not posted the rental rate on their web site for this car yet, but it sounds like it will rent for around $1,400 per day for 1 day rentals, and around $1,100 per day for multi-day rentals. It includes 200 kilometers per day free, and after that you pay extra per kilometer. Details on their web site:

www.EuropeanFerrariRental.com

I'll be renting the 360 Modena again this year, as I think its the best overall value. But for anyone who can't afford a new 575M (like me!!) the rental may be the next best thing!
