I have owned several Ferrais over the years including a 328GTS, 400GT, an 86 TR and a 67 330GTC. The TR was the worst out of all the others combined. I am now buying a 94 348 spider and look forward to some open roof motoring. I would advise against a TR under any circumstances. It handles like crap and is VERY EXPENSIVE to service. |

Have a '90 TR with 6500 miles. Obtained it from a friend who purchased the car after a major fire, set by a family member of a VERY famous celebrity. So far have about 90,000 into car, so it's obviously a labor of love, not profit. Am in final stages of resto(interior stuff like dash, console, etc), car is fully driveable and is AMAZING!!! Have owned many a 911(nonturbo) but this car has them all beat for sheer driving enjoyment. Despite the fire(which destroyed over 75% of the car!)it has been very reliable. I will be getting the 7500 mile service soon(nondealer but at a top-flight facility) for about $3000. Expensive, but worth it for such a remarkable car. Being a closed car to me wasn't important...and compared to a 328...there isn't any. You can't top the wail of that flat-12 engine with any V-8, except maybe the Modena. Re the 348...UGLY!!!! and very 328-like. NO comparison!! Drove a black 348 TS('94) prior to the TR..felt a lot like a Toyota Supra Turbo but not even as nice as that car!!!! A Ferrari largely in name only. Go for the TR..I would NOT advise doing what I did, getting a car in need of such extensive work but wanted the celebrity history...great story....they are out there for reasonable prices with NO stories; service ain't cheap but hey..it's a Ferrari, right? |

I understand the problem. I love my GTS on nice days, but then again I love the Ferrari sounds and you can't beat a TR. I have no experience with the TR. You probably can't drive it daily like the 328. A local person is looking for a 328 + cash trade for his TR. |

Hello: I am about to set forth with my quest in buying a newer Ferrari. I have owned a 328 GTS ´89 and sold it. I am trying to decide between a 348 and the TR, the TR is an all out Ferrari, 12 cylinder boxer, etc, and I am afraid that the 348 will be too similar to the 328. But, what bothers me about the TR, besides the high running costs, is the fact that they do not have an open top, and nothing beats drive an open Ferrari, that I learned with the GTS. Can anyone give me some advise? Thanks. |
