Greg:

Other than the updates I listed in my post, I am not aware of the others. Your mechanic should know of them, or you can purchase a service bulletin from Ferrari which lists them. Sorry, but my mechanic did all of the work for me and I just restated some of the updates he mentioned to me. When I get the bill I will post other updates if they are mentioned.

Ken,

If you have to rebuild the fuel distributor, then I know the place to send it for a rebuild and the cost is around $400.00. That is a lot cheaper than 1600.00 to replace. (Quote from Bosch Dienst in Germany) or the cost for Bosch to rebuild. What is critical when reinstalling them is the control plunger height.

The place I sent them is Fuel Injection Corp. in Torrance CA. 800 729-7118, talk to Robert. Turn around time is about a week and a half in the USA.

Ever since I purchased my 1985 308 QV GTS back in Feb. it has ran like crap and has been in the shop. The car had zero low end power (yes I know the 3X8 cars have no low end power but you could have ran faster than my car until it hit 5K rpm) and popped at 2500 rpm 3500 rpm. I have posted several times to the list asking for help and everyone has been very helpful. During the past several months my mechanic has checked EVERY system in the car (I even purchased two 805A Digiplex units which I did not need thinking that they may be bad) but the car was still running lean with the above listed problems. I am happy to report that earlier this week he discovered the problem. The ground to the Jetronic system was bad causing the system to be inoperable! He said that when he cleaned and tightened the ground (as the car was running) the engine instantly started to sound normal (no more popping) and other systems on the car started to come alive. This means that the Jetronic system on the car had not been working for at least 10-15 years if not longer! (the previous owner purchased the car in 1989 and put the car into storage upon purchase) The only other problem is that one of the cylinders is still a little lean, but this is a simple (I hope) contamination problem. Either one of the hoses has to be replaced or a part of the fuel system (I forget which part he said fuel distributor?) has to be sent back to Bosch for cleaning. After the contamination problem is corrected, my car will be 100%!

In addition to the above work, my mechanic has inspected every system on the car, corrected all of the problems that the local Ferrari dealer did to my car (They really botched a lot of items that needed to be corrected. Their work was very sloppy, they billed for work not performed (in excess of $10K), and still did not correct the problem that the car was sent to them for in the first place.), and has researched every recall and improvement done to the 308 QV. I now have the new alternator and alternator belt redone by Ferrari, an updated A/C system as per Ferrari, completely new and updated relays (some of the relays were known to cause electrical problems and recalled by Ferrari. One of the recalled relays has been back ordered by Ferrari for 3 years and costs $200, but I did finally get one), improved valve cover gaskets, upgraded hoses, etc, etc. All of the upgrades done to my car are official service bulletins by FNA and there were a lot of them. Having the bad ground to the Jetronic system was probably a good thing because my mechanic able to correct a lot of unrelated items on the car as a result. I cannot wait to drive it.
