We have a couple of local car shows each year and I always bring my 308 or Merak. I get mixed reactions from the crowd, but I find some of the young kids with their Japanese rockets really know what they are doing and are as passionate about their cars as are the most ardent Ferrari collectors. Some of these cars have more money and time invested in them than you would believe. If you like cars, I think you appreciate all kinds of makes and styles. |

The TDF was in FCA Platinum Coppo Machina condition. It belonged to John Apen the former owner of FAF now Ferrari of Atlanta. It's just that the 15 to 25 year old crowd didn't appreciate the old car. |

What kind of Camaro. Maybe the TDF wasnt in mint condition like the camaro. It was probably a yanko or something. |

A few years ago I was in charge of a local car show to raise money for the drama dept at my daughter's high school. It was mostly American muscle cars but I had my TR there and John Apen brought his Tour de France. Believe it or not the local crowd voted a Camaro Z28 as best of show rather than the TDF. That TDF later sold to Bill Gates for over $1 mil. |

Visited a car show this past Saturday. Mostly American muscle cars. One Ferrari (400/412) a couple of Alfas. With all the street rods, '20's cars, big block bruisers, I'm not surprised the crowds pretty much stayed away from the Italian fare. Each car show has it's own style, and this one was for American Muscle. At other shows, the American cars would have looked out of place. Keep in mind some guys have to say something about every car, just to impress their spouse/date or to make themselves feel important. I don't let their odd comments bother me. |

I showed my TR last year at a local car show. It was fun but I was exhausted afterwards. I couldn't move one foot away from my car. Couldn't believe how much the crowd is really interested in exotic cars. |

Unfortunately all car enthusiasts aren't well rounded. A while back I remember a guy talking about how he used to work at a hi-end dealer and he drove all diffrent Ferrari's and they weren't that great because you couldn't speed shift them.I really felt like walking over to him and smacking him! Some people just don't get it! |

I do the Sat. night Sonic type shows here in Dallas. They are really a great time, but I always get beat by Buick Grand Nationals in the 80's class. |

I take my 308 to these all the time, on Fri. night I was asked what did it cost only ten times. Reaction from the hot rod group is always very good, like I tell them, everybody can't own a Chevy. |

My little boy and I go to them and the cruise-in's. When the cars are being voted on by someone who know what's he doing, my little boy always gets a plaque or a trophy. But when the muscle or classic car guys vote we never get anything. They will not even come look at us, but boy the crowd of specators is usually pretty heavy. Check out this little southern website. It's got everything within 2 to300 miles from our house. www.classiccarbug.com |

I think it's great that people like you do that Ben. A lot of people have misconceptions of Ferrari's and other hi-end cars and by showing your car and answering people's questions they can be properly educated instead of just assumming facts about the cars. |

I do this as often as my schedule permits (I think I've done more than 12 in the last 14 months). Not trying to too my own horn, so to speak, but I try to share my enjoyment of the ownership experience with as many as possible. The muscle car, hot rod & old roadster (1930's - 1972 American) owners present don't really pay much attention to the Italian cars, but the crowds sure do. -Ben |

I went to a local car show here in Vt. that I have attended for the last 10 years and they usually have Brit. muscle antique cars etc. but this year there was a 78 308 GTB. It was a nice suprise and great to see these cars showing up at mainstream shows. |
