Estimates came back ranging from $413 - $550, about what I expected. Will take it in tomorrow to a good body shop, hopefully they can do a great job. Will post "after" photos.

Oh almost forgot, I've never seen a paintless dent removal that you couldn't still see after they'd had a go at so say 'removing' it.

Think the physics, metal with a dent has stretched, go figure! True they do a very acceptable job for most people and it will be 'nearly' as good as new but don't give me the 'as good as new bulls**t.

Funny old game paint repairs, being the original Mr VERY FUSSY I could write a book on my experiences alone.

Bottom line is nobobody has ever done a repair I've been happy with, always one or a combination of the below:

-Colour mismatch
-Finish mismatch, not in concurrence with rest of vehicle (orange peel commonest)
-overspray onto other areas of body and/or glass.
-poor masking so you get paint on surrounding parts (this is visible on the TR being pictured in this thread, see the black part between bumper and vehicle body proper...it has red paint on it from a poorly masked line. The bumper should have been removed to do the job properly but it clearly wasn't.
-Poor feild edging such that new paint edge shows and will peel/flake away during future vehicle cleaning (especially if new paint hasn't been 'keyed' to old.
-new dents appeared on vehicle by magic when in repairers yard.
bits missing or changed on car!!!!!
interior buggered in one way or another (I now always remove anything if I ever need a car painting)!
bits of masking tape left around vehicle.
-evidence of a circular rubbing disk being used and glancing against other body parts (usually black trim).

Red is a particular bugger to get right due to fading of existing. There is a component in red paint that causes the match problem, especially under artificial light (street lights) where it often will not match (the exact technical term I can't recall but there is one).

Good luck you will need it in my experience.
Our 6 month old runabout car is in at the repairers having JUST its bumper repainted today (some old git just drove into it whilst I was stationary!). Cant wait to see what sort of a f**k up they make of this one and how many of the above are present when I go to pick it up!

As you probably guessed by now I trust bodyshops zero!

yep, paintless is out on such a corner hit. the toughest part is the paint match. Depending on how much it was waxed and cleaned, they will have to mix a little bit. Shouldn't be a problem. I see no more than 600 dollars.

Aaaaaaaah! That pi**es me off. I went through this all the time with my last car. That's a pretty sweet picture though. Is the banking real, or just an angle?

Marcus,
I don't think you can do a paintless dent removal on that.....It looks like the paint has chipped & its right on an edge (very hard to tease the metal back with a dentless repair on press lines/edges, and double skinned areas)......It looks an easy area to blend though, so any competent bodyshop should make a first rate job of it.

Someone hit my TRs right hand corner in a parking lot yesterday. Judging by the placement of the dent, it must have been caused by the bumper of a SUV or truck

Unfortunately I didn't notice the dent until I got home. I usually do a pre-drive inspection when I park the car in a larger parking lot, but this time I skipped it for some reason. I can't believe the person who hit me wouldn't leave a note or something (oh wait I can, since a lot of people are complete *********).

I will stop by some body shops tomorrow to try to get the corner fixed. Any recommendations on what procedures I should ask them about? Pricing?
