When I want to get out and about and parking the car will be necessary, I don't take the f-car. When we had dinner in Flemington with Bruce and his wife, he kept joking about me needing to have a visual on the car while having dinner. Maybe I worry to much, but I will not park out of sight. If I'm out to drive, I drive, if to shop I'll take the daily driver, after all, this is NJ. John |

I regularly park in two spaces to give me the extra room. But then I also park as far as possible so I do not offend anybody by doing so. it is just a extra insurance that no idiot will park right beside me and ding it. Still happens though, I guess that is part of owning any car.

Having had a key down a brand new BMW some years ago for doing this I wouldn't recommend it. I wouldn't leave my F anywhere where I couldn't keep an eye on it...period. As far as our new runaround car I am still extremely carefull about where and how I leave it. Usually wide out on an end space as recommended here elsewhere. Unfortunately, whatever you may think or paid for your car, to the majority its just 'a car', whats the big deal! You wont change this philosophy so just learn to accept it and accomodate for it. The world is full of jealous ba****ds, thats not cynicism its realism.

I usually try to park way out away from other cars. But on more than one occasion upon my return I've found a 'beater' parked right next to mine--Just the two of us parked way out in 'left field'...

When I park my everyday vehicle, I often give a good look at the vehicle that I am about to park next to. And many times I pull over to a different spot. If someone is driving a beaten, unwashed clunker, they probably don't care too much about their own car or appearence, so they probably wouldn't care too much about whether or not they put a dent in your door when they open their door. Another street savy trick that I use when parking my everyday (non-F car) vehicle. I always try to park near a nice, shiny, new, Cadillac. I figure that if a car thief is looking for something to steal, the statistics will show that a new Caddy is like candy to a little kid. They will go for the Caddy and leave my truck alone. And by the way, my friends have had 3 Cadillacs stolen from them. The thieves can't seem to resist them. |

Stephen, the car parked next to your F-car 100 yards from everyone else just doesn't want any door dings either! Mine comes with me to the Home Depot every now and then. :-) |

Went to the store the other day, and parked in front, across 2 handicapped spots, was a shiny red Corvette. Seeing as how the store was Home Depot, and it was a Vette, I had a hard time giving the owner benefit of the doubt. Didn't stick around to see if anyone retaliated. |

BobD, Seems whenever I try to park my car by itself, when I return, there will be no cars for miles, except for one car BESIDE mine... I'll not risk the Ferrari on errands. I'll take the beater. |

One space only. Double spaces incite anger from idiots. |

When I have to leave mine in a parking lot, I usually park it in right field... where there are no other cars. And I take up only one space. |

Might want to add car shows to the list too. My 360's collected a few scratches from "over-enthusiastic" attendees. There was a gorgeous Duesenberg J Model at one show I attended. I walked around the car admiring it until I saw 3 long scratches on one of the doors. That owner probably cried when he got home. |

in the office i always take up two spaces with either of my stupid cars. but i pay the rent on them, so there's not much complaining ;-) when i'm out and about, i park on an end space where i can park outside the line a bit go get some extra room. or often you can find end spaces with cross-hatched "extra" dead space you can use. if i can't find a good spot, i usually will just leave - it's rarely worth the risk. the dry cleaning isn't going anywhere, etc. :-) i would not take up two legit spaces - that's an invitation for trouble you don't want. doody. |

Malls and stores are the worst places to go in an exotic car. Have you seen how tight the spaces are these days? Plus the fact that about 3 out of 5 vehicles in the parking lot is either a hulking SUV or superduty truck. What about all those punk kids who hangs around in malls? Just asking for trouble.

never double park...too many jerks in the world. I know of a guy who did this in his viper and he came back 10 min. later with a trash can full of garbage in it. |

I don't. Either don't drive your Ferrari to those types of places or just park way out. Reality is that our cars aren't equal just in our own hearts and soul. On the street they are just another car that has to follow the same rules whether written or not. Also, I think a car is more likely to get keyed or have a F-150 with confederate flag parked one foot next to it if you double park. |

You can do that, but don't be surprised when Bubba keys your car to make a point. (That point being that Bubba is a dumb ***). |

According to an unfortunate fender bender that Marcus had in another posting, do you feel that it is o.k. to take up two parking spaces to prevent door dings at malls or out to eat. And I don't mean street park. Just the side by side stuff.... |
