Here are my pics of the monreal gp.

Jay - it looks like we were at the sotto sopra restaurant at tha same time.. funny!

Anyway, there is lots of other content in my album, as well as questionable photos, (given that its mostly a family album from the montreal trip) so you can ignore most of it.

Do they offer repeat buyers seats before they offer them to the general public? I'd love to get Grandstand 10 next year.

We sat in that grandstand in '98 when Wurz did his infamous barrel roll after the start. Unbelievable. I'm always surprised that watching the brake discs glow doesn't get old. I love it.

The seats were great! They were right next to the paddock club, if I recall correctly they are called the suites. Its mostly event and race sponsors, we had Shell Canada next to us so we were hoping one of the drivers would maybe come by and say hello. Had a nice view of Montoya parking his car right in front of us, also Michael when he blew his engine during warm up.

The seats were available through a friend, i'm waiting to get some more photos back to post them also. I can't wait till next year! Montreal is such a great city and you can't beat the F1 atmosphere.

We were in Stand 10, section 8 (at the Senna Curve end of the stand). We went in 2001 and sat in stand 16, and were invited to buy again. We asked for 4 seats in the Senna Curve area. They didn't have 4 together there (it's the most desireable area), so they offered us stand 10. The 4 tickets cost about $1300 Canadian, including taxes.

Turns out, the seats were incredible! We could actually see the red brake rotors of most of the cars (the Williams were especially bright--even the rears!).

So that's what it looked like at the other end of the straight. You had a great view of Montoya's exit.

What is that section called? Could you buy tickets, or was it by invitation?

David, great shots! Looks like you were sitting directly across the track from us. Good location, eh?

BTW, was Jackie Stewart getting a hummer or something? Sure looks "Clintonesque" in your picture!!

Alex, you missed me! I was there today showing off the prints. I also have about 45 minutes of Mosport Ferrari track day and Montreal F1 video.

Great pics Jay! Let's take both our cars down next year. I'd like to see your prints sometime; let's meet at Rocco's garage, have a coffee, check out the cars and look at your shots.

Adam I didn't make it. My car is not ready yet and I didn't want to be more depressed than I already was (not being able to drive!).

Rick, I had a digital camera and a 35mm but the pics I posted were from the Digital on low resolution. The prints are much sharper. I'll be back again next year and hopefully with the car!

Great shots Stephen!

great photos steve and jay. what kind of camera did you use? adam i saw your ride pass by followed by a smoke silver spider on sherbrooke. didn't make it to peel st though. played a round of golf that afternoon and on top of the drive up there i was burnt and crashed early. but saw many sweet rides all over town all weekend. it was nice to see ferraris just cruising by both new and old. there was a red 308 outside a resturant on st laurent sunday nite that looked as nice as the black TR and the new red 360 that were parked around it. after a while it was like " oh there's another 360, nice". something i could get used to. montreal was a cool town. major street parties, cresent st with the minis and st laurent with the jags and babes prancing on stage in their underwear. i think perhaps next year we'll do it again although Spiderman has been talking Monza lately so we'll see.

I know how exciting that can be! A few years ago, while there, my friends and I were walking the pit lane after practice. Standing outside the Ferrari garage, a man walked up and told the team manager that he was with the corner crews, and was making notes of where all the cars kill switches were, and could the manager please point it out to him. After a few suspicious moments, he was given the OK. Assuming I was with him, the team rep allowed me in the garage also. While they were at the back of the car, I made the most of it, burying my head in the cockpit and seeing as much as I could from that close up. I kept looking up for my friends, hoping to have my picture taken inside this sacred ground, but nobody was outside. Of course, as soon as we were being walked back out, the rest of my group came strolling back. You wouldn't believe the looks on their faces as they spotted me being personally escorted out of the Ferrari garage by the manager! Just one of those lucky, rare moments.

Chris Parr and I were also at the race. We were lucky enough to get Paddock Club passes from a supplier of mine. They would let us in the pits at certain times every day for a "walk around". Our suite was directly above BAR Honda. It was great to see the pit crews in action. Here are some photos from the weekend. Thanks to our hosts in Montreal for a great race.

Jay;
I was there in my red TR, and my friend with his silver 360 Spyder. Did you make it to Peel Street on Thursday? We had 50 cars there. Great Weekend

I actually followed the crowd of people who were going through a hole in the fence and presto! We were on pit row! After the race that is! You can also purchase them from the ticket booth or the dealerships. Also anyone who works for a sponsor of the team can usually hook you up with a legitimate pit pass, but I found after the race security doesn't really care where you go...as you can see from the photos. :-)

Jay

How do you get on pit row at a grand prix? Who do you have to know?

Ryanab, I don't know. Maybe because of the fact it blew an engine. They didn't want spy photos taken of weak points? Who knows, but none of the other teams cared much. Once they moved us far enough back then the door opened and the mechanics began to dismantle the car. I have most of that on video until my batteries died. I think they are also concerned about people stealing stuff out of the garage. Security is not as good as it could be (consisted of little more than poles and the modern equivilent of velvet rope), but I'm not complaining, after all I didn't have a pit pass and neither did the other people on pit row.
David Coultard came out and gave a wave but Rubens and Michael were nowhere to be seen. I spoke to the mechanics in Italian and they said Michael was long gone...who knows.

Thanks guys, anyone know whos 360's parked outside of Sotto Sopra? There was a red 360 on the other side, the silver one pictured, along with a red 355 spider parked across the street. Thought it might be someone on the board. Then again, Montreal was covered with Ferraris this weekend. Deffinately going again...next year with my car!

Sneek Peek! They tried to stop us from taking pictures of the Ferrari spare car (which blew an engine in warm up), I managed to get this off before they moved us back. I have more close shots once they opened the door and video. All the other teams had the garages open, but because this is a Ferrari board I'll only post Ferrari pics. The photos I have are better quality, these are just quick scans to share with you all.
