Good News, The person who took my key and remote returned it to the ice cream store today. He said "he didn't know they weren't his keys" Took him 2 days to realize! Guilty conscience or just a mistake?

MW360, Actually, I thought your initial reaction was the perfect response to Willis' comment. "Who are you to say how another should react to a perceived slight." Well, you're certainly right about that. I have no right to say how another should react . . . I'm sure you were not in the mood for humor after losing a very expensive set of keys to a very expensive car. I was just trying to help put the fire out so that people might focus on your problem. I hope you get everything resolved quickly and painlessly. Good luck. I'll go back to lurking except in rare circumstances where I think I can help. You guys are awfully hard on one another. I will certainly not be posting in the Jesus Fish thread! Best regards TC |

Jason-thanks a lot.I called but no answer (5.30 UK time) will try again tomorrow. Are you still in Portugal? Willis-no problem-You see, when one is looking for helpful suggestions and the first post is"DOH" it's a little disconcerting.I know you were TRYING to be lighthearted. Todd,Since Willis' comment was directed to me it is not for you to say "I don't think what he said should be taken offensively".Who are you to say how another should react to a perceived slight?

I don't post much, but I think some clarification is needed here. "Doh" has almost evolved into a term of art in American pop culture. The exclamation comes from the popular animated sitcom "The Simpsons." It is often used in reference to a blunder that was self-inflicted. I believe that Willis was using "Doh" in sympathy for MW360's blunder, as that would be the typical usage. The connotation of "Doh" is exactly the opposite of "Duh". "Duh" is usually used as a way to insult someone for a self-inflicted blunder, where "Doh" is used in sympathy or empathy. Willis occasionally inadvertently offends someone, but in this case, I don't think what he said should be taken offensively. |

What are you saying, Bruce? I was trying to inject a little levity into Martin's situation (almost lost my keys in a similar situation) and I get insulted because of one freakin' word?! Sheesh!

Okay Martin....Hope it was a good ice cream because it certainly was an expensive one!!! Called dealer (MHT Ferrari) for you....set of 3 remotes will cost $150 The key blank at $68 is about right..... They said it will take about 2-3 weeks to get the remotes, because Ferrari will want to check out who you are, do you own the car etc (known as a secure part order) Your dealer will need to program the remote for you. If you call 011 44 1451 861051 ask for Alan or Andy in the parts dept. they'll help you out (feel free to use my name.) They'll need you to send them a copy of the log book etc....anyway there was a whole load of security stuff, that they will ask you for. Jason |

this afternoon went to an ice cream store, layed my keys and slave remote on the counter, got distracted and they were gone! Nice lady drove me home to get other set. Boy am I tee'd off. Called local dealership and they quoted $68 for a blank key and almost $300 for a new set of three remotes. ps broke a key 1 yr ago and same dealer charged $18 for the blank. E mailed Nick and waiting for an answer. I believe the euro remotes emit a different wave-length.Any suggestions? (other than don't put the keys on a bloody counter) tia |
