Would you have access to exclusive items? Another problem is that all this stuff is already available to the public on-line, in catalogs or at races. People have already seen most of it, so it's nothing new.

I second djmonk's advice, be careful when you are among the first to franchise. I've had good experiences and bad with franchises. I've had my best experiences with established chains. WATCH THE FEES! Like you said, make sure you have an excellent manager.

Lincoln is $45 and up per sq ft. I think not feasable if you are thinking of selling small items. Most of the major companies are having the Lincoln stroe as a write off, because it does not bring the business (with few exceptions).

I would look somewhere off the beat and see if you can get rents at $25/sqft DTWN is pretty dead right now but may flair up once the Argentines and Brazilians come back. Rents are dirt cheap there. Lots of stores vacant. You can get a great deal in there! Good for the future if you ask me.

Maybe you want to look for something that you can also put one car on display and put that for sale. Attracts shoppers and through my dealer license we can sell a car every once in a while.

Hmmm, I know that in SF the Harley Store has a small cafe as well if I remember correctly. Like the Armani restaurants LOL DOnt get me started on the people who hang out in Armani restaurants, talk about a lack of self esteem :-)
Back to the topic. Ferrari launched their 1st store across from the factory. I was thinking Lincoln Rd in Miami Beach. Dunno about the rents but I'm sure u do Martin :-)

William,
there is a store here in miami called Italian Image. The owner is a devoted Ferrari fan and carries all the F-merchandise, shirt, shoes, models, parts and more. He is holding a huge F-1 viewing party every GP in front of his store. I have been out there the first time this weekend and it was great.

As far as a pure Ferrari store, I do not know. Maybe in combo with used car resales a good idea but purely a store I do not think you will get enough customers except on A1 tourist locations.

Just my very conservative 2c. The idea sounds great though. Make a biz out of your hobby.

Just to add my two cent's being a multi store owner of one of the biggest franchises worldwide. Being one of the first franchisees for a new company usually is not a good idea. Your really an experiment for them an for that privilege they get to charge you royalties. You in reality end up teaching them more about the biz than the other way around. A Ferrari store's territory just would not have the density of devout fans who would spend the big buck's for Ferrari merchandise. Lastly fans in your trade area could order from the Ferrari website circumventing you. Btw 5th ave rent's for say 1200 square feet can be 20k a month are more

would think hard to earn good money - don't know the specific but I bet Ferrari charges a lot for the franchise and then you have to pay them for the inventory which I am sure is not discounted - of course you can turn around and charge 150 for a barbi but unless the economy is steaming it could be tough. also you can't just set up in your local mall you need to be on 5th ave and you can guess how high the rental rates are on 5th ave. You don't see many "franchises" on 5th. Many 5th ave stores are loss leaders for major brands not small franchises

Ferrari has just started a new business selling memorobilia & trinkets similair to the Harley Davidson stores. u can buy anything from a Barbi Ferrari to a Schedoni briefcase, Fila clothes ( & clown shoes)to old connecting rods & pistons, Hot Wheels, posters, videos, jackets, almost anything with a prancing Horsey. The first store opened in Maranello just across from the factory.
I am considering buying a franchise, Sounds like excellent marketing to me. Course Ive never had a retail store before so I'd need to hire a good manager. What is your opinion on these stores & franchise etc ?
