I should have remembered about William and his TR trans at Lime Rock as I didn't think there was a hill like that there either. |

You got it Hugh. I thought it was a close track but I didn't think there was a hill like that at Watkins Glen and it seemed vaguely like the hill before the corkscrew at Laguna. Jean Alesi makes more sense than Prost as well. Damn, I gotta get all these names straight, I'm a disgrace, I know. Regardless it's a nice pic. For some reason I can't go to that site though. |

I have some great F40 pics, notably one of Alain Prost wheeling an F40LM up a hill at Laguna Seca I think it is. I feel bad posting so many pics here lately, I'm always up for sending though. |

There's a good F40 overview on F40s in Classic and Sportscar Magazine this month (Dated March 2002) and it has a little bit on f40 racing history |

Actually it did race in the FIA in the mid 90's. It competed at LeMans several times and also competed in the BPR Sports Car series in 95 and 96 against the McLaren F1's and other similar cars. It never won at LeMans nor in the BPR series. It also raced in the Italian Supercar series and also made two appearances in the old IMSA Sports car series in the US. Most of the race F40's were F40 LM built by the Ferrari factory and had about 750 horsepower. A member of the Empire State Region of the Ferrari club has two of them that he takes to track events. They are similar in performance to the 333 SP's in terms of outright speed. Some links: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/ferrarissime/ferrarissime/f40.htm (great pictures) http://www.ferraris-online.com/Articles/SCM_9909.html (very good article with lots of info on the F40 LM) |

It never officially raced. By the time the F40 came out the class for which it was designed to compete was cancelled by FIA. |

My son's favorite car is the F40. I'd like to be able to tell him the car's racing record. Can anyone tell me what they know of this or point me to a site that might list this type of statistic? Thanks in advance. Mike |
