I wrote an article on my site about the 1995 F355 and the I mentioned what I THOUGHT was the correct info but I must say that the explaination I got from the sales guy here in Dallas may have been a "Basic" version of the whole story...: I may be wrong of couse. but here it is anyway: http://www.nextestdrive.net/f355b.html |

Speaking of 355s, does anyone know anything about the story that 355's have a problem with premature wear of the valve guides? A while ago, Forza magazine featured the 355 in their "Buyers Guide" and mentioned this problem. According to them, the guides can wear out in 15K miles. Anyone have any real world experience? |

Besides the added hp, the 95s were the only 355s to have the lower gear ratios make acceleration better. All of the later years had higher ratios making them have higher top speeds, but not as quick. |

The 1995 heads were different than the later years. They produced more horsepower, which is why all the challenge cars used 1995 heads even if they were later cars. |

There is also something about the electronic engine management system (ignition) that changed after 1995. I want to say that the 1995 was a 'Motronic' system, but I need to check my notes. I don't know why they changed (emissions?, fuel economy?, etc) but the 355 Challenge cars (even up to 1999) all use the 1995 electrical system because it produces a little more hp. |

While I don't recall the exact reason. There is a change in exhaust (possibly also intake, so AIR FLOW). Once you open the engine cover you can visually see that the 1995 vs. all other years are not the same. |

95 F355 vs 96-99 F355 i recently heard that 1995 F355 had 380 bhp and that all subsequent models 96+ had 375 bhp. i thought it was interesting that ferrari would make such a minor change in horse power. altough it didn't change the performance of the car, then what was the reasoning. if this is true, then why. does anyone know about this. |
