I think it is a nice security measure. |

I ot one with my 348 spider. It is a great concept and it works well and looks great! If you think of other visual detterents, like god forbid that ugly club thing, they are huge. This fits easily in the glove box, mine had a little velvet bag to put it in, and it is easily visible from outside the car. If you do one of the suggested electrical measures it will not be visible and someone may still bust your window or something else thinking they can take the car. With this they will hopefully see it and move on. |

You're right Bret. Remember the thread. I converted mine to the switch. Just don't forget to turn it on before you drive it. It could stall in the wrong place. |

I have the gate vault too. I love it. It takes 2 seconds to get it on or off. Great piece of mind. Back it up against a wall with it on and it's not going anywhere unless you drag it. I think they make them for the 6-speeds now too. |

You could always do like the old 308s and have a fuel pump switch. They might make it out of the parking lot, but that'll be the extent of it. I think a Ferrari sitting in the middle of the road might attract some attention. |

I also have one, use it mainly at car shows, etc. or where someone might be tempted to play with the unique gated shift (parking lots, motels, etc.) |

I bought one of the gate vaults and like it a lot! It is a quick visual deterrent, easy to install and different from other visual deterrents (i.e. the club). I think that it is a good first level of defense (very visual). One thing I did with my gate lock is that I machined a relief on the lower side where it contacts the shift lever while in the reverse position. Before I did this, I had to apply pressure on the shift lever to allow clearance to seat and lock the vault. Doing this relief eliminates any strain on the lever. The clear anodize on the top portion of the gate lock is untouched. |

Are we talking parking it at home (storage) or when out and about at dinner et al? Try the power cut switch first, may take them some time to find and figure out esp, if they have never openned a bonnet. Next yank a fuel pump relay (or both), they will NEVER get the car running without 'em. Alternatively pull the main input hot lead into the fusebox, that was the can try to turn over the car and it'll make noise but never go, starter and coils will be hot but nothing else (fuel pumps etc.). Just some ideas. -Ben |

Why not put a electrical cut out on it so it kills the entire starting system. That thing just pisses them off and they use crowbars and screwdrivers to remove it. |
