Thanks everyone i can't wait to get the car i should be getting delivery in 2 weeks than i will post some pictures.I was drving a 996 Carrera before that so big jump from that to a 550 (This is my first Ferrari). I have Michellin Sports on it and it has a Tubi Exhaust. What air filter do you recommend Whart and does it make a big difference? Also where could i buy an air filter for the car? I live in somerset county a little west of newark airport. Hope to see you all on the road soon. P.S. Is it a good idea to get Stonegard Installed on the car?????? |

Enjoy the car, Ray. I don't know what you were driving before, but the first 550 i drove was a revelation to me, at a time when i had a BB, and thought i was already used to some torque. As Jeff R. said, you do have to keep the revs up, otherwise, its like driving an overpowered touring car. What kind of tires? Change the air filter at your oil change? (and, in a nod to Manu, how bout that exhaust note?) What roads will you frequent? I am often north of Westchester, on the B roads, and stay as far away from hiways as i can (684 is, to me awful; i'm surprised at the # of people that like driving it). The lower Taconic is hard to resist, but, i went to the Orange County side yesterday (not in the F car, it was raining) and between 17 N, just past Tuxedo Park, i took a left on the "Orange Pkwy" heading toward Woodbury; what an incredible road! See you out there... |

YOU MADE THE RIGHT DECISION!!! There's no substitute for a 12!! It's easily the nicest Ferrari in the range and the power...... Congratulations Ray. We all look forward to pics - yellow 550's are soo rare! (yellow stitching on black must look fabulous + carbon fibre interior - 4000 option in the UK)

Congrats!!!!! I had mine out today for 2 hours of hard driving and for me; it's the perfect car. Be sure and get those revs up before shifting. Otherwise, the car will seem like it's doggin'. |

After listening to everyone on this board i finally bought a 2001 550 Marnello instead of a 360 Modena. Should hopefully get delivery of the car next week. Thanks everyone for your inputs in making the decison. |
