365 bb was the predecesor to the 512 bb and then the 512bbi. 365bb are genrally considered a little more collectible because there were less, more direct link to racing, and the most powerful

If the leather isn't torn, often you can condition it and redye if necessary.

David , thanks a lot . i printed your reply and i ll be taking it with me ! I realy dont think they will let me testdrive it but maybe i can ask for the seller to drive it around the block with me in it .

I know the leather has to be replaced but then its pretty normal for a 28 years old car .

Andrew,
I've had my 365BB for 20 years now...
Not sure exactly where to begin, as to what to look for. Service records would be a start...looking for recent evidence that:

1)The waterpump has been rebuilt
2)Regardless of miles, valve guides and exhaust valves replaced...
3)All waterhoses replaced
4)Clutch replacement....(As proper adjustment is very difficult on this car, life is pretty short.)
5)Cam seals, timing belts...and bearings.

What to look for:
They smoke a bit (Primarily fuel...with a little oil) on start-up.
No chokes on this model...So takes a bit to start cold.
15-20min to get 80-90C oil temp
Clutch a bit heavy...but smoothe.
Synchros...Pay attention to downshift in 3rd. Big dollar/francs to go into the transaxle.
Oil leaking at the inner CV boots, or axle flanges...Not expensive, but a pain to repair.

Driving:
Steering somewhat numb at low speeds...gets responsive about 120km/hr.
2nd and 3rd gears, at full throttle should put your head through the back window...
They tend to run a bit warm/hot when driven hard...and will come close to overheating (100-110C) in traffic.

I could go on for days...
Best to have a very competent mechanic check over the car...as costs of repairs/sorting out can be very costly.

Overall, should be a very wild ride!

Regards,
David
