I had a long message that I put a good amount of thought and time into, and then the site would not take it, as it was down at that moment....I will try again. |

Just past Tuxedo Park, made a left on the Orange Parkway, in an area between Central Valley and Woodbury; lots of new real estate development there. |

really? heh I was in Nyack last night well it was one of the spots I stopped at. I used to work Valet at the Nyack Seaport for Lena's and their catering hall. Anyone live down there with an F car? I used to see and hear one when I worked weekends. Whart when you say Orange do you mean Orangeburg, Orangetown(PR, O'Burg, etc), or Orange County? Someone needs to build a decent club around here, a place for kids to go(besides the pool hall), oh and a place for kids to go(ROCKLAND GOES TO BED AT 10pm) There is absolutly nothing to do after 10pm in Rockland but drive around or go to a fast food place. anyways I'll stop rambling on...... I'm thinking about forgetting the whole investing thing and just getting a cheap fun speed toy. Any ideas? I was looking at a 125 2 stroke dirtbike before I got the investing idea any other suggestions? |

That's pronounced "Nyack." (Seriously, folks, my wife and i were over in Orange the other day to look at property for development; it looks like things are popping there, in that very area.) |

The stock market is tough these days. Very unpredictable and rocky, from what I hear it's even tough for seasoned traders. I have actively traded for a few years and find myself sitting out a lot now. Picking stocks is almost like gambling in today's environment. Something you may want to try is using indexes or options in indexes. This way you are not picking a particular stock, but just general market direction. As a recent college grad, I too have a bit of money to invest. It's more than Emilio, and as I mentioned above, I am not very interested in investing in the market right now. Martin, I am VERY intersted in real estate. Could you provide some more details on where to find out about deals like the one you mentioned and/or creative financing? Any pointers would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance, Kyle |

I look for the biggest % losers each day. Tomorrow I'd bet EDSN and/ or CHB gains 10%. Disclaimer: I'm a novice investor and offer a completely uneducated viewpoint. Good luck. |

Emilio, don't know where Rockland COunty is but I am sure your real estate prices are not totally inflated and with that you may be able to buy your own home in a creative way at low money down with just that much. I just bought a 10 Acres Ranch in Texas for $1550.

Emilio, I just got a tax return with roughly the same amount of money as you. I was going to stick in the market to see if I could make anything happen. For some crazy reason, I really like Nortel right now. Shoot me an email, [email protected] and lets see if we can come up with something.

Microsoft at 49 sell if it breaks 47.$2 down side. upside should be 10-15 points at the least. And this should happen within months not years.Might be to late as it is already moving up off the buy number again.Could go back again watch it. |

imho, there are 3 sectors/industries that are currently underrated vs their 5-10 year horizon profit potentials. - energy merchants; currently you have a situation where the media, analysts, the ferc, and disgruntled investors, are all trying to make amends for missing the enron story and subsequently losing face, reputation, and money. so they are going to the complete opposite extreme and slashing all of these companies in an effort to show that they will 'not be fooled again'. this is essentially bs. most of these groups have little idea how the money gets made and why enron fell; and so have little idea on what appropriate measures for regulation in the future might be. luckily things will sort themselves out after the hysteria passes and energy companies will continue to make money by making the energy delivery system more efficient in a deregulated environment; after all, people will eventually realize who keeps the lights on. - insurance companies; some insurance companies took mega hits with 9/11. all insurance companies took mega hits in the stock market as investors reacted to 9/11. now they are all raising rates across the board and across the world and on every form of insurance, using the excuse of 9/11. in 2 years time, they will be showing massive profits again. - bio tech; bio tech companies will take the current gene research breakthroughs and combine that with all the tech knowledge and expertise currently going begging in the world, and make some enormous strides in medicine. as one example, i am sure that within 10 years we will be creating our own 'spare parts'; you need a kidney transplant? hold on for a few weeks while we make one out of your own dna, and then when we 'install' it it won't be rejected. i don't have any individual company recomendations but am sure you can find funds that give you a good cross section of these industries. |

Hey all, I know investing has come up many a time on the forum but I have a twist in this post. I want to purchase some stocks. I don't like long term investment even though that usually seems to be the most stable way. I currently have 1.6k USD that I would like to invest in stocks with. What companies do you suggest? Telecom/Biotech/etc? Any and all help is suggested. cya Emilio |
