See, I'm torn. I adore the romance and sight and sound expierence that is the gated shifter. But the F1 tranny is the coolest thing since knives met bread. Maybe cooler. Pull back at 8500rpm and *wham* here you go! It's revmatch bliping is just awesome. Note to those who own/drive the F1s, they only really go gonzo when you shift right at redline, otherwise they can actually be a little soft on the shifts. Wind it out, and keep it in 'sport'. PS: all talking about the 355 here, I haven't driven a 360 or 575, F1 or otherwise. |

Although I am a fan of the classic gated shifter I hear that the 575 F1 is more advanced than the 360 F1 tranny.. They got most of the bugs out! |

Thanks for the response guys! I do admire the F1 tranmission, especially in regards to the benefits it provides on the track. |

I'm enjoying the 575 F1. RM, on downshifts, in normal mode, it uses the synchros. In sport mode, it blips the throttle before downshifting. The only thing I would change on the F1 programming is I don't like it shifting into first while slowing down at very slow speeds. I find myselft slowing down for a sharp corner, stepping on the gas to pull away only to find the F1 is in the middle of the process of shifting into first. When it finally engages first I get a jerk becasue my foot was still on the gas. I have to remember to manually select first when slowing down so I don't get caught unaware. the car is fantastic. |

rm: apparently the tranny does very impressive things on downshift. most reviewers have more pleasant things to say about downshifting than upshifting (unless they're on the track). doody. |

I agree with RM. F1-box takes away some of the driving pleasure. Leave the F1-box for those who really need that tenth of a second (Schumacher) and keep the stick for those really enjoy driving. I would definitely go for a manual. Ciao Peter

I hope that Ferrari does not remove the conventional six speed manual from its models; I for one will be devastated. BTW with the F1 transmission, does it rev match by itself on downshifts??? |

I believe 4/5 575 will have F1.For the 360 it is 3/4 with F1. |

Saw my first 575M today and, guess what!?....it had the 6-speed! Dark green metallic with tan interior; gorgeous car; Ferrari of Washington. Bought by a guy who had a 360 w/the F1 trans and traded it in on the 575M (he had ordered the 575M quite some time ago). Guess he didn't like the F1,eh?

I've also been looking bu only found the F1 car. I wonder why Ferrari is discouraging readers from hearing about the 6-speed? It seems that the company truly believes its future lies exclusively with computerized shifting and I wouldn't be surprised if, with the next model or within 5 years, the manual is no longer an option. |

None that I can find. As you said nearly every review is w/ the F1 tranny, and in a recent R&T or C&D, they quoted FNA expecting to see 5 out 6 575's sold to be F1 equipped. But, what is amazing is just how much esteem the reviews give the new F1 tranny. |

Maranello has done a stellar PR job with the release of the 575M. All (and I mean freakin' every last single one) of the trade rags are covering it like it's the last Ferrari ever going to be made! As best I can tell though, ALL of those reviews are of an F1 car. I remember the seconde 360 Spider review that Forza did where they got a six-speed to test and they had decidedly different feelings about the car. I'd like to see/hear some reviews/feedback about a six-speed-equipped 575M. Anybody seen any? Doody. |
