I personally like the 308 more which is why I got the last year of them. But the 328 is more refined and a slightly more modern sports car. The both share a lot of the same problems, but from what I seem to hear is that the 328 is a little better regarding reliability just because it's younger and there were some updates by Ferrari. They are really similar cars, I guess it's just which you prefer. Honestly, I can't see being unhappy with either one of them. |

Read the Topic "308 Reputation" on this message board. I was in a similar situation as you. I've been crazy about Ferrari since I was a kid watching Magnum P.I. and then Miami Vice. I saw my first one in person during junior high... a TR (I grew up in a small Kansas town that didn't have too many Ferraris). When I saw that TR drive slowly by in person, my passion has been set ever since. Finally, this summer I bought my first Ferrari in a 1986 328 gts. I'm still 100% happy with my decision, a 308 for 8-10k less would of also been a good choice. My budget limited me to mid 40's and the 328 barley fit in. With more money I would of chosen a later model 8 cylinder. Although I think the 308/328 body style is a classic, the newer Ferraris are so much more powerful. You can even get nice 348's for around 55k. A few points... - Most Ferraris have been very well cared for. - Be careful of Ferraris with low miles, either their Odometer wire was pulled or they haven't been driven often enough. - With a little research you can piece the Ferrari's history together if not included. It's so worth it. I'm starting to get a little sick of the attention it gets. I'm very nice though, because these people may drive the market in the future. |

I am new to the purchasing portion of Ferrari but have been an enthusiast since age 7 (I am now 30) I thought that it was time that I partake in that which is Ferrari. (ownership) I am unsure as to which of the models I prefer and which would be more to the liking of a mechanically inclined individual. I am not afraid to perform anything short of a complete rebuild. (with the appropriate info even that is within reason)however I would like to know where not to buy and perhaps some good experiences from others. I prefer a car with reasonable milage and an almost perfect body. I prefer a car that has been driven to a garage queen. I would like to see maint. records and the like if possible. Please share your thoughts on which are the better models/years and those with which you have good experiences. Thank you in advance |
