Sorry.. I misunderstood then... I thought you meant to power brake the car off the line.

I have done a standing start like ten times during the last 1.5 years. I have over 6K miles and the clutch is still strong as ever.

Of course, if you do this every day your clutch will burn out quickly...

Umm, my BMW clutches only last 60k, of course ask Scott Juarez how I drive it. Plus they have a two stage flywheel that you have to replace with the clutch too.

I didn't say pressing the gas and brake at the same time. You just keep your right foot hovering over the gas pedal while the car is at rest. Lift off the brake with your left foot then slam on the gas with your right at the same time. This is quicker than just using your right foot.

Yeah, I don't recommend doing this often.

...also make sure to call your mechanic that he should order a new clutch for you, so it in in stock next week, when you have the car towed in!

a sure way to burn through the clutch! Don't post next week..."Why does a clutch not last more than 2000 Miles, when BMW builds one that lasts 100,000..."

NO!! Do not try pressing the brake pedal while accellerating like in a regular automatic. This will burn out your clutch. Many 360F1 owners have burned out their clutch this way, treating like a normal automatic transmission where you can power brake off the line to get a faster starding start.

On a 360F1, just press down the gas pedal quickly from a stop. The ECU will rev up to 6,000RPM and pop the clutch. You can then regulate wheelspin with the accellerator pedal. It works pefect.

I agree. Putting your left foot on the brake to get a little extra pressure off the line should help a lot. You are effectively doing what you would do with a manual. The F1 uses a clutch like the manual so you are just using up a little clutch and brake.

I believe Motor Trend tested a F1 equiped car with 0-60 of 3.9 seconds. I wouldn't call that slow. Of course many variables will make some differences in testing numbers.

Try doing this. With the car in sport mode, put your left foot on the brake pedal with just enough pressure to hold the car in place. Right foot over the gas. To launch, you just lift off the brake and floor the gas the same instant (and keep the foot down on shifts). If you're trying to launch with your right foot on the brake then slide it over to the gas (like normal driving), it's way too slow. It takes some practice to do it right. Loose gravel or sand can cause the tires to lose traction and kick in the sensitive ASR.

I think that's why F1s post a slightly slower 0-60 most of the time. It is hard to get a launch as good as you can by feathering the clutch on a manual. BMW's SMGII has a launch control feature for this reason. I would look for this feature on future Ferrari revisions of the F1 transmission.

Put it in sport mode and just floor it.

Any advise on how to preform a drag race launch with a 360F1? I am having trouble getting it moving quickly enough not like my 512TR where I just pop the clutch at about 3000rpm and hold on.
