12/1990 348TS red/tan 34,500 Miles, just doing the 30K service (full engine out), new clutch but the car is not perfect, yet all service done and a great driver, true one owner car! $ 49,500 4/1991 348TS red/tan 38,000 Miles, my personal car, 30K done at 32K Miles, clutch just resurfaced, good condition, wins trophies on most concourses, spacers. $ 52,000 1994 348 Spider red/tan 28,600 Miles, this is a true beauty, a perfect 10, there is no blemish on this car. Over taken care of. 2 owners, 30K done recently, has tan top cover, looks like a million bucks, drives like 2 million bucks and the $4000 stereo speakers crank out a mean sound! www.4Ferrari.com

Also Curry's Automotive in Chantilly. They have a tech who used to work for FOW and he is excellent. Anything they do for you should be less than a Ferrari dealer, though they are fairly expensive too.

Rob, The 1st 348's had a lot of problems and the line was constantly upgraded. It is worth paying extra to get later years, also the later ones are a little faster. The most common problems with them are generally electrical in nature. Faulty sensors are another common problem. Major components are solid. I had a 94 TB that was very reliable over the 15K on put on it. Dave |

I have received the same recommendation about Grand Touring several times as David said below. |

Rob, you might want to try Grand Touring, Inc. in Laurel for servicing.....just off the BW parkway. Apparently they do some major work for Marriott's personal collection of many many cars. Number is: 301-470-6464 |

Thanks for the info. I am going to start researching and looking for a nice 348. Anyone know a good Ferrari shop for service in the Baltimore metro area? |

In general, I think it's safe to assume that Ferrari maintenance is 2x more expensive than a Porsche (and most people think Porsche maintenance is already high). If you can live with it then you'll have no problem owning a Ferrari. |

Ron, ALL Ferrari road cars came with a longitudinal mounted engines until the 246 of 1969, although it was badged as a Dino. The first lateral mounted engine Ferrari that left the factory badged as a Ferrari was the 308 of 1976. When the 348 came out in 1989, the longitudinal mounted engine TR had been out since 1984. So, the truth is that the only non-longitudinal engine Ferrari road cars are the 308 and 328 as the 246 and 308GT4 were both badged as Dinos. |

I recently sold my nsx and bought a 348ts. The nsx was great...but the Ferrari leaves you with a satisfied feeling during and after you drive it. I think the 348 is a good value. Gas mileage is amazing. I had a Tesstarosa before that..great car but always in the gas station. Good thing I own a gas station. But as others have advise...spend the time to get a car with a clean history and service records. Don't forget get to get it inspected BEFORE you buy it....good hunting... |

Wow! $2400 for a clutch job for a Japanese car seems alot.. When it comes to reliability on the Ferraris depends on how well it was taken care of..I have a friend who had a 348 and drove it to work daily and never had a problem with it..I also hear that the 348 had some issues with it being it was the first Ferrari road car that came with the longitudally mounted engine. I think the Porsche and NSX is more reliability but the Ferrari is a Ferrari Good luck on your search and always do your PPI.. |

They are reliable as long as you treat tehm special. Change the fluids more frequent than in a normal car, allow it to warm up just a little longer than a normal car, and most of all DRIVE IT. My 348 seems to get better and better the more I drive it, when it seems to sit for two weeks or more the car gets really unhappy idles rough until warmed up and etc. But if I drive it weekly she remains happy and loves to rev. A clutch which I just had to replace will run you around $2000 for a dual disk, and $1100 for a single disk. |

I am considering buying a 348 TS. I am new to the Ferrari community but own an NSX and a Porsche. I am trying to get some info on the reliability of the 348 as the NSX and porsche have been rock solid for me. I love my cars but my real passion has always been for the FERRARI. Also what is a good price to pay for one with between 10k and 30k miles. How expensive are the repairs ex. I just paid $2,400 for a clutch in the NSX. Would that be equal or less than one for the 348. Thanks for the help. |
