My boss comes from a family of thoroughbred trainers and breeders. We suggest him to name one of his thoroughbreds "My other car is a Ferrari"...it didn't fly very well with him...so he named it "Chasing Money"...which can be an appropriate name for some the Ferrari's. |

That all depends where your from. If your in Italy, it's Itialian. If your in France, It's French. I usually say it with a French accent I guess that means I can use the Italian accent with the same name on my Ferrari Thanks pal. |

I think a woman with a french name is one of the sexiest things around.. When I owned a Rx-7 I use to call her Sophia I haven't considered naming my Ferrari (when I get one) but it will most likely get a french name too |

I haven't named my newly purchased 328 GTS but just for kicks when my brother asked me to send a picture of it via email, I called the attachment Red Roach.doc...he got a kick out of the humor in calling it everything it isn't! |

think you are right that women have a greater tendency to name cars than men. my wife has had various names for all of her cars. i have on occasion broken down and named some of my cars, but more as a descriptive term than a moniker. for example, my dinan chipped black m5, with black interior, black headliner, and blacked out windows (don't blame me it came like that), i sometimes referred to as 'darth vader'. i sometimes refer to the 512tr as 'the beast', as other owners will appreciate.... |

Dave, I do agree with you. Quite a few lady friends of mine do have names for their cars, but maybe only one of the guys. Perhaps a woman on the board might have an idea... Even though I brought this up, I actually haven't ever given an official name for any of the cars. The reason I thought of this post is cause I was toying with the idea of naming the car, and was wondering what everyone thought. |

My wife is into naming cars. She calls her old 4runner "Thor". Her Outback is named "Alice" after the town of Alice Springs we once stayed at in the Australian outback. Our 1st Ferrari (a 308) she named "Foxy". I would like to think she was thinking of Hendrix' Foxey Lady, but I know better. 2nd Ferrari was named "Foxy II". The 3rd was named "Steed". Then we got a 348 TB she named Duke after a "chunky" Labrador Retriever she had as a child. The 85 308 GTB we now have I named "Little Red Dart" or Dart for short. Our latest (a 328 GTB) she wants to call Foxy III but I am waiting for her to do better. Women seem more into naming cars than men, I don't know why. Dave |

I have never named any of my cars. I have called them names at times however but red dots probably would appear. |

I was thinking about this for a bit today, and thought it might make an interesting post. I noticed in the archives that this came up once before, but with the many new members and not so much participation last time, I thought it might be nice to do it again. If you have a name for your Ferrari or any other car list the model, color (maybe), and name you or somebody gave it. If you haven't named it for some reason or another, or have an interesting opinion on why you think its dumb, silly, whatever--say so, I'd like to hear it. Don't be shy, let's see how creative we all are--hopefully this'll be fun. |
