I've been interested in starting an independent dealership for a long time but I have never really found answers on what is involved, what I should do to prepare myself to get into it, etc. I am trying to get some career goals together. So, if we have any independent dealers who would be willing to help me out, here are some questions:
1) I'd of course want to have an exotic car dealership, but would it be best to start out with inexpensive foreign cars such as used BMWs or something?
2) How would you go about starting a dealership? How much capital would be necessary to start with (probably connects with question #1)
3) What should I focus on in school? What colleges have you all gone to?
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry if my questions are vague or naive... I'm just trying to figure out if this career option is a viable one.
