I hit 160 in my 89 tr. I don't know what felt better, the fear of getting caught or the need for speed. Here in new york they confiscate your car if you go over 100 mph. |

135 and scared $#@*less too. Only had her there for about 10 seconds. The scary part was she had plenty more to give! Mine's a euro spec model, 1985 GTSi and I too had the top down. I've found that as a general rule, while the euro spec version is less valuable than it's American version counterpart, it's got a wee bit more power & quickness to give!! No pollution baby!! |

91TR: You can get a hi flo cat and weld the stock 328 flanges to it at a get savings, drill and tap O2 sensor hole.I have done this on many of my cars I sell OEM cats from time to time the price is shocking. You all have some great imput keep it coming!!!!!!!!! |

According to my information the 86/87 328 published HP ratings are 270HP Non-Cat and 260HP for the US version(cat). I'm sure this is where the HP gains and confusion is coming from. Of course, we don't know all the other changes in the US version cars to be sure that HP gains by using "test pipes" are that difference. FWIW, I agree with Steve in that you should not hollow out your cat conv. If the next caretaker of that Ferrari lives near a large metro area and needs to pass an emission test, it would be easier than having to find another one! |

Jim G., If your cat(s) are intact and functional, I'd strongly recommend that you purchase/fabricate test (bypass) pipes rather than removing the cat(s) internals. It can be much more cost effective in the long-run since you'll have the original parts if a future buyer needs them. Even if a particular future buyer doesn't need them, my experience is that there's a strong demand for used F emission parts and that you could easily sell it/them via eBay, FML, etc. for more than the cost of the test pipes. (If you want a shock, price a new cat -- BTDT). PS Shouldn't this be a new thread under the Tech Topic? |

I have had my 1987 328gts to 130mph when I heard something funny.I truned the stereo off and I was being yelled at by a CHP on his PA system. He told me I had a nice car and its hard to drive when your in jail.I pulled over and after the paper work cleared he let me go with a warning. But at 130mph their was still plenty more left. BOOOHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

328 test pipe does anyone know the real bhp gains by this conversion.I took the cat covtr off and was going to hollow it out. I took it to a friend with a muffer shop he told me it had a hi flow cat on it and their would be no signifant gain from this.I know for past exprience the O2 sensor readings will be affected. Also I have talked to alot of mechs on the real BHP the 1987 328gts puts out the factory says 270bph almost every one else says its more like 260BPH.As far as exhaust systems go I am also told alot of diffent claims some say 5-10% some tell me as much as 50BPH I suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle |

Jim: Maybe I don't know what I am talking about because I only have Euro models. Try it with the test pipes from Nick and K&N filter, that should bring you up to date. |

Chris: Ferrari has a vast number of models some in the high teens and some that are several million.A new Viper has an msrp of 67k now how can you call that a cheap car. What I MENT is that to get a ferrari that has the same bhp your looking at at least a 355.I also performed the major service on my 328gts 2 t/belts up dated w/pump valve adj cooling system flush all fluids it is a long service chris. My Viper is a/flr & oil changes thats it. They could have at least made the 328 300bhp.W hat do you think????????? PS YOU SHOULDENT TAKE THIS THIS SERIOUS ITS JUST CIT CHAT |

Jim: You don't know what you are talking about if you call 165 mph a cruise missle. A Dodge Viper is a cheap car compared to the Ferrari if you look at the maintenance and depreciation. I don't understand why you are getting personal, probably a lack of arguments. There is a fine line and you are crossing it with Crissy (nobody ever called me that, sounds kind of funny) and "wag your little tongue". I did not want to attack you personally, so take it easy and just show us a pic of your 328. Christian |

CRISSSY I am the proud owner of a 1987 328gts and a Dodge Viper. I judge a car by its performance not its name plate maybe you should price both cars together before you wag your little tongue |

The guy that went 160 mph in a 328gts must have been pulled by a very fast tow truck. My 6spd viper will do that in 5th.....I still love my 328gts but at 260bhp (wheres the beef?)My speed record is 165mph in a 300zx twin turbo that had alot of steve millen goodes. The next nearest car was about a mile ahead of me and I closed on him like a cruise missle......... |

OK I am the one who started the whole thing but as I am German that should be allowed. Top speed ever in my BMW 750 was 167 mph and in my 535 supercharged 175 mph. It is quite hard to go that fast here in BC as even the freeways are quite windy but let's see. |

130 bringing her(348ts) home from the dealership in Pittsburgh. Only stayed there for a few seconds. I hadn't owned the car more than an hour at point. A lot of wind and noise with the targa off. |

WELL only 113mph, I know that was correct when the man in the car with the blue flashing lights said that is what his radar clocked. I was going for much higher and she just wanted to keep on going. Spoil sport. Maybe I shouldn't have stopped. Then again there are those whirlybirds up there and you can't out run them. MAGOO |

I had my 328 up to 140 @ 6500rpm on the Ocean Pkwy on Long Island. It felt like the car had more to go. I chickened out. didn't want to risk the ticket. |

I was wondering when this question was going to be asked. The fastest I have had my 308 is 120. I have had it up there several times but only for a few seconds. Always it was with the top out and it sounds great! I need to find a better stretch of road to push it higher. |

WITH MUCH EGGING ON FROM MY HUSBAND'S FRIEND I TOOK FEE FEE OUT FOR A REAL SPIN ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO. I TOOK HER ON A 10 MILE STRETCH OF ROAD THAT RUNS THRU EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE IN FL. HAS A BEAUTIFUL HILL, 2 BENDS AND DEAD ENDS AT AN OLD COMMUNITY LIVING OFF GENERATORS., WITH MUCH ENCOURGEMENT FROM THE "FRIEND" I REDLINED FEE FEE IN ALL GEARS. HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST I WAS GOING AND I SCREAMED PART OF THE WAY WITH MY PASSENGER SAYING" "GO ON GIRL PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN". WE WENT UP AND DOWN THE ROAD 6 TIMES, EACH TIME FASTER. I ACTUALLLY FELT THE REAR OF THE CAR SQUAT DOWN LIKE A HERMIT CRAB AND THE FRONT ROSE UNTIL I FELT I WAS FLYING. I DO NOT KNOW HOW FAST I WAS GOING ALTHOUTH THE "PAL" INFORMED ME BASED ON THE RPM ABOUT 150 MPH. I SAID "HOW CAN YOU TELL AS THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS AT 80 IN THE 308 AND THEN ITS JUST BLOCKED OUT" HIS REPLY WAS "HONEY, I'VE SEEN PINE TREEES GOING BY AT 80 MOH, 100MPH, 150MPH AND 180 MPH AND THOSE SUCKERS WERE FLYING BY AT 150MPH:" A RATHER NEBULOUS ANSWER BUT IT SURE GOT MY ADRENALINE GOING! |

120 Ferrari mph, so about 110mph. It was only for a second in the middle of the day. I took an on ramp to get on the highway and there was no one around so I let it rip (there are never any cops in this section, they all stay in town). I was with one of my friends and we were cutting study and lunch. It was pretty classy. In the spring I will look to up that number. |

147, top down. I hear the 360 spider is comfortable at speed with the top down. I can assure you the 355 is not! |

Since Chris has been slacking this week. Here's the weekly question... How fast have you had your Ferrari? For those that need a code, here you go... !@#$%^&*(). Laugh at me, but I've only been 129 mph, !@( for those speaking in code. |
