Rob, I laughed out loud when I read your note. I have to admit they were smart not to 'clean them up' and put them in front of an expensive house. Psychology is a powerful thing. |

Before I sell my car, I'm taking it to a barn, covering it with hay and dirt. |

Anyone take a look recently? The Calif.Spyder is over $300k and the reserve is still not met. Anyone want to buy my '84 308QV grigio/red so I can enter the bidding war? |

From the looks of the photos, the bodies seem to be damage-free, so little work would need to be done in that respect (therefore less $$$). Still a major project. True Bret, eBay isn't the best place to sell something like this. This is something that should've been advertised in "our" mags (Forza, FCA NL & PH, etc...). |

I don't know. I think if these were restored they would go for more than they are. Haven't 250 Spider Californias gone for ridiculous amounts if restored to perfect original condition. Yeah I think this guy does know what he is doing, but ebay might be the wrong market to go for here. These would be prime cars for collectors which don't exactly fall into the ebay demographic, but I guess it is an inexpensive way to get them noticed. Rob, I would think that you could have a good coach works shop restore them for significantly less than 100G. I don't think it would even cost half of that. I was at a really good old fashioned coach works shop yesterday in the Philadelphia area, they had an old Maserati and a 330 GTC that were being restored and they wouldn't cost anywhere near 50G. |

You mean like that Maserati Birdcage that recently sold for £1000000? |

I have read a report in a classic car magazine that unrestored originals (in whatever condition) bring more money than top cars (kind of virgin idea or so - who puts his hand first on). |

The price is already getting up there and it hasn't hit the reserve. I think this person knows exactly what they are doing. Look at the story line that follows the description. This is a smart Ferrari person that knows everyone dreams about the "Ferrari in the barn" scenerio. They need a bunch of work and for example, you can get an almost perfect Lusso for $130k. Do you think you can restore this for $100k? I'm not sure, does anyone know how much it takes for a full restoration and getting missing parts? I just checked it out. It looks pretty real to me, but like you I am still somewhat skeptical. It would be friggin sweet though if it is really true. But, you would think the guy would have them restored and then sell them for a greater profit. We can always dream about these barn-Ferraris though. |

Anybody check out ebay and see the two 250's that some guy is auctioning off? Three original unrestored examples sitting in some old bunker on cinder blocks and covered with dust. Almost seems like the urban myth of the old Harley found in a barn that was owned by Elvis. |
