Not sure if this helps or not, but my current CA insurance will cover me for any new (read new to me) vehicle automatically for 30 days or so. Basically you have 30 days to go in and put the car under your policy, then the policy date becomes retroactive to the date of aquision. Just ask your agent if you go buy a new car do you have to deal with insurace for it on the day you buy it or is there a time frame that you can relax a moment and still be covered. -Ben |

When I had my car shipped from Pittsburgh to Florida by DAS, they took every bit of the 10 days they had quoted(from pickup). I had to prod them to deliver it on the 10th day so I could meet contractual obligations(inspection/approval at delivery)and release the money to the seller on time. What I learned... If you need the car on time, make sure both you and the seller understand exactly what is required for the car to be ready at pickup-- because if it's not, they won't pick it up. Stay on to of the shipping process to be sure that the car is moving and not sitting somewhere. |

Erik you are right. I don't know why I did not call my own agent to check on this. I guess it was probably because he quoted me close to $4300/yr for adding a Testarossa to my current policy. By the way, the best quote I have received so far has been from 21st Century Insurance. They quoted me $520.00/6 mos. which beats the heck out of $4300/yr. The only problem is that since it is a new policy, they will not insure the car until it is titled in California (reason for which I started this thread). I guess I can take advantage(if that is even possible!) of my current insurance until the car is titled in CA which should only be a matter of days after it arrives on the state. By the way, how long do these transport services take to deliver a car across country (NY to CA)? Any guesses? Thanks, Arnaldo Torres. |

Safeco covered mine just with a call to my agent saying I was going to pick mine up. |

I would try the classic car insurance companies like Hagerty, Leland West, etc. I'm sure they would cover you as well as be reasonable. |

My insurance will not cover the car that I am intending in purchasing because it is not titled in California yet(it is in New York). Is there any insurance company that will provide coverage between states or at least cover the period between the purchase, transportation, and titling in California? |
