Hey Rijk: nice to hear from you (although i'm the one who should call you, to set up dinner; let's talk). I got some certificates in the mail about 2 weeks ago from AF; they provide an upgrade from business to Concorde, which is no great bargain since i assume a business class seat is probably 5 grand. But the certs also provide that, for 160k miles, you can get 2 RT tickets on the Concorde: that's cheap, in my book, cause each flight used to retail for something like 8 grand RT per person. I have in the past, used Amex miles for AF; as i recall, you convert them to Delta miles first, then Delta gives one to one for AF. Since i did that a few years ago (it was like $39/per person roundtrip on the concorde to paris, when you considered the airport tax on the tickets), AF may now have a direct relationship with a Amex. Its worth checking, since i agree, twofers are not the best bargain. |

Bill, I can only find the "two for one" on the Concorde, which is not too good a deal if you fly solo. Is this the deal you found, or did you find another one? Rijk |

Dunno, exactly when. A client usually hosts a get together at a facility outside of London; believe it is in Oct. but i will doublecheck. As to Italy, AF is offering really cheap deals on the Concorde, so i thought that might be excuse enough to drop into Frogland, at least long enough to catch a plane over to Milan. (i am annoyed with the french right now, so i will take advantage of their offer, but don't plan on hanging out in paris, if you know what i mean). |

Right guys you're on! In the intervening time, I am going to sort out a few details for you and see what I can do. - We get a Hamann Motorsport Exhaust for the 550 delivered in the next 10 days (its the system WITHOUT the throttle controlled noise). When fitted I'll get some pictures, sounds, videos and other bits and pieces for you which you guys can check out when you're over here! I'll also try and do a side by side comparison of the two different exhaust system marques (Tubi and Hamann) - simple video (maybe digital) could do the trick and we could certainly have a lot of fun with this! Whart are you going to be coming over to the UK the same time as Jeffrey? It would be nice for all of us to meet up in London for dinner (perhaps with a few other Farrarichatters and owners!) What do you think? Manu P.S. Guys, I live in London but our offices (currently being 'sorted') are in Egham, Surrey, on the outskirts - opposite the WORLDS largest Ferrari dealer, Maranello Sales. |

Manu: I had also posted a reply but it was lost in the ether. If you can't come to us, I'll come to you! My wife and I are going to be in London for our 30th wedding anniversary but I'm sure that I could get away for an hour or two to hear the Hamann. Are you game? I'll be in London from the 7-12 of August and would certainly be interested in hearing how a "real" 550 is supposed to sound

Whart, I don't know about flying out to NYC BUT let me see what I can do. As for any Hamann Warranty issue - anything purchased from ME (my company) will be covered FOREVER (if ANYTHING EVER GOES WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM) with any returns shipping costs being paid for by US...(and I'll give you guys a great price too!) Whart - I do agree with you mate that Tubis MAY be too much for some people esp for long journeys....but then that's why we offer the alternative. We are fitting another Ferrarichatter with a Hamann for his 360 in a couple of weeks and we'll be recording the sounds for our website (which is currently being properly sorted). We need to find a way to allow you guys to HEAR a system so you can judge for yourselves! hmmm... video? what do you propose?

So, Manu, we were just about at the point where you were going to fly over to NY and let me hear why I needed a Hamann (sp?) exhaust on my 550 barchetta, when we were interrupted by Rob's server servicing. |
