Don't forget to check out www.expensivecar.com/timing.htm which gives some basic information. If I were you, I would change the cam seals also and this will mean removing the cams. There are a lot of people that will help you I'm sure, both here and on expensivecar.com (as well as a lot of info already published). From what I've read, it looks difficult only from the available space standpoint and identifying the marks on the flywheel to be sure everything is in the right position. I hope that a recent graduate of this experience will write an update to the procedure so those of us who will do it in the future can benefit.

You should also refer to the factory service manual which can be cryptic as well as suffer fron italian/english translation difficulties but still is a good reference.

P.S. I did buy a spare set of belts from T. Rutlands for not too much money as well as the tensioner bearings($175.00 for 328&QV). (which as long as you're in there you might want to replace also)

This spring I want to change the timing belts on my 308 qv. Aside from removing all the parts in the way to get to the belts what else is involved once I get to them, aside from the proper tensioning. If I don't move the cams out of position when taking off the belts can I simply put the new ones on or do I have to line the cams and drive to the marks and if so how do I rotate them to the proper position? Have any of you out there done this and what special steps are involved?
