Who ever said these cars arent practical? Instead of an SUV, we also use ours for getting stuff for the house! Thanks Becker for letting me know about this chat room. One of the things about living with these cars is the quality of the people you meet. |

I saw a couple more ferraris today and yesterday(the weather has been good), nice red 308GTSi today, but the real interesting one was yesterday (I didn't have school) and I was with a couple of my friends when a red 1953 375 America drove by. Needless to say I was impressed. |

Michael, Thanks I really appreciate your input and help and if I decide to buy from them I might have to drop you a line. I met Ralph once or twice but I didnt really get into a conversation with him. Your so right if someone was spending that kind of cash I sure in the hell would be nice to them to:-) Talk to you later. Jeff |

Jeff: Buying the car from FOW was fine. When I drove the car, I found several things inoperative plus a small oil leak and they fixed them fine. Getting the car ready had one glitch. I made an appointment to test drive and the first appointment was forgotten and when I showed up the salesman was on his way out the door to another meeting. That aside, the next time the car was pretty and ready to to go. I test drove and then took it home that day. The 30 day warrranty is kinda neat. You simply can't feel out everything on one or two test drives. Plus since it was a dealer, I did not do a pre-buy inspection on the car. They had the service records and I figured as a dealer they have nothing to gain selling me a bad car -- especially with forums like this the word will get around. So I went for it and so far so good. My way of "inspecting" the car was to have it serviced in Florida over the winter. I did not lead the mechanic there on, I simply said -- when you change the oil I would like my engine bay and underbelly cleaned and brakes cleaned. If you see anything strange or that should not be there, let me know. They have done a couple oil changes and changed my clutch and they say the car looks great. FOW, I would say presented the car as what it was. The bottom line -- would I buy from them again -- yes. All businesses have their weak spots and any glitches there that can be remedied with just a simple conversation. In my book, that's good. Hope this helps. Michael PS; If you ever want to go in, I can always go with you and introduce you to Ralph the sales manager. Very friendly and easy to deal with -- I guess I would be easy to deal with too if someone was giving me 50,000 or 100,000 plus for a used car. |

Michael, I guess when I take my car to them Ill have to double-check everything! I havent taken it to them yet for I really cant afford them to be honest. But I will have to some day. I have only talked to a few owners of Ferraris around this area so I should rephrase my sentence and say only a few individuals that I have talked to wouldnt buy a car from them:-) At least compared to how many are running around here they must be coming from some where, most likely FOW. I was wondering when you bought your car from them was it a hard process? Did you have any resistance about getting the car ready or having things fix before you bought it, if there was any? I wasnt aware of their 30-day warranty. That makes me feel a lot better. Im thinking about buying another sometime and would like to buy it from FOW this time. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Jeff Welcome back William. |

Jeff: I may be one of the few (it sounds like)that actually bought my car from FOW. I thought it was 3 - 4,000 on the high side on price but they had the TR I wanted in great shape and most important they had the service history. So far, I have put on 9,000 miles (in 21 months) and have been happy. It spends winter in Florida where I get to drive about 5 weeks out of 5 1/2 months. That said, I did have several of the experiences you mentioned. Loose bolts and the weird stuff like being told the car is ready and when I get there I find they "forgot" to do one or two things on the list. But as for the service demeanor, they can be a bit distant at times but I cannot complain about the quality. Everything they have fixed so far works well and they have always found the problem quickly. The down side of all this speed is I pay FOW prices (read as -- we see another TR coming in the service bay -- yippee for our bank account). Another interesting item. When I first got the car I was given 3 quarts of Valvoline 20W50 racing oil for the car. 5 months later, I was given 15W50. And when I asked why the change -- I was told that I bought the wrong oil. Well, I was given the oil by their mechanic and told this was the one to use. He even poured in one of the quarts in front of me. Now I was being told they never used this oil -- go figure. The motto of this story is I double/triple check everything now. Probably the way to go with all service mechanics. By the way, I had all oil flushed and replaced with 15W50. They gave me a 30 day warranty -- and fixed a broken fan rheostat and a couple other things I found inoperative. The right thing to do on their part. Overall service-wise, Joe in the service department has been very good. Definately he is the one to talk to in the service department. That is my experience so far. Michael |

Michael, Some owners that I have talked to just expressed that they were very hard to work with when trying to buy a car from them. Unless it was a new one. Others have said they seem to look down on individuals with older cars. I remember a long time ago on the expensivecar.com site there was a couple of people that talked of FOW. About having older cars and I think one had work done by them that they didnt tighten all the bolts and even left some off! on what, I dont know and put the directional tires on backwards. Dont know if it is true or not. I have a 1980 308GTSi and they havent done or said anything bad about it. At least in front of me. Have you or anyone else here worked with them? Jeff |

If you guys really want to see the 456 in action go to this website http://www.ferrariturbo.com. When you get there look on the left and go to Downloads then video and look for the 456 video. If you havent seen it yet it is well worth the download. Its a guy test-driving the 456 on a track so hard that he blows the engine. I think we should request the serial number of that car so well all know not to ever buy it J Look out ebay! David where are you located? Maryland? I love your 348. Have you done much business with Ferrari of Washington? Many Ferrari owners I have met said they would never buy a car from them but they have no choice as were to take them to get worked on. I have only used them for eye candy and dreams. The all seem pretty nice for the most part. |

The 456 is a great car and remember it was the first of the newer styling of the 456/550/360 lines. I like the 550 better with the aggresive hood scoop, but otherwise similar styling. |

Hey Jeff...I saw a yellow 456 on the Dulles Toll road. It seemed to standout too much. I like the more subdued colors in the 456. BTW - I was on my way to FOW and the guys there said the 456 had just left the dealership. |

There is at least three here in Northern Virginia that I see on a pretty regular basis. I am not sure of the years but the colors are silver, dark green and black. Out of these three the green looks incredible I think with tan leather. The last time I was up at Ferrari of Washington they had more 456s then any other car that was new at least in the show room. They really do look great sitting or flying down the road. |

That's what was said in the last issue of Forza. Highly praised on all accounts, but performance was right up there. There are two at the dealer here in Vancouver, one is the original 456 GT and the other a 456 GTM. The M is painted in a beautiful metallic champagne colour. In my personal opinion, it looks better than the 550 and the 360. |

There's a guy out here with a 456. He's a real nice mellow guy and it's a great looking 456. Let me tell you that it is a wolf in sheep's clothing! I've seen him get on it and it just leaves you behind no matter how fast you're going. So don't let that "gentleman's car" fool you, it is a major league Ferrari through and through. |

Was it nicer looking in person than in the pictures (I'm sure it is), but is it nicer relative to the relationship between a 360 in a picture and a 360 in real life? The 456 is such an underrated and often times forgotten car. It is the gentleman's Ferrari, so classy. But, it doesn't have the flare of the 8cylinder cars or the deep tradition of the 550. |

I was thinking, the weather is getting better and a lot of ferraris are coming out from hiding. As I just saw another one out on the road (a silver 360 with challenge grills), it was going like 40mph the other way, it looked like it was just floating over the road, what a car, I decided to look back at all that I have seen since the winter ended. So in the past two, three weeks I have seen (on the road, not at the dealership): nero 355 Spider (the one that the lady rapes) swaters blue 355 Spider fly yellow 355 Spider rosso corsa 355 Berlinetta rosso corsa 360 Modena w/SF shields fly yellow 360 Modena swaters blue 360 Modena titanium 360 Modena titanium 360 Modena w/challenge grills rosso corsa 308GTSqv rosso corsa 308GTSi rosso corsa 308GTS nero 308GTSi rosso corsa 550 Maranello (the first one I ever saw on the road) rosso corsa 348 TB rosso corsa 348 Spider light blue metallic(I don't know the color) 308GT4 rosso corsa F40 I've never seen a 456 or a 328 though, I want to. You also hardly ever see old Ferraris. Damn, they would be sweet. I see most of the cars listed again and again over time. I'll see like one a day for the most part. I know I am forgetting some that I have seen recently, but this list will have to do. I never realized how many there are. I guess since I am near FNA and Classic Coach there are a lot moving around here. I am interested in knowing what cars you guys have seen since winter, or ever. Has anyone seen a 456? |

William should be back in the next few weeks. Although I don't think any of us would have a hard time picturing him being locked up in some Tibetan prison for fooling around with the mayor's daughter or something. He'so classy. A pink Ferrari would be more than just a little friuty. Just think though, you could put it in those gay pride parades, that would be sweet, right... The cinder blocks are new and they have wood on top so they'll be alright. There's also wood chocking underneath, between the blocks, that you can't see, so even if they did crumble it would still be supported. |

Bret, you are a brave man (or insane) for resting your wheel-less car on cinder blocks... ...Also, I've seen some pretty absurd seventies colours on Ferraris, but pink was not one of them AND IT SHOULDN'T BE! Your suggestion is a little "fruity" J |

Yeah I figured there were several of them that could apply to automobiles, and since this topic is based on William and yak skin items, it's not like it's really a Ferrari topic anyway. For the record, I'm not pro any extreme movement, I'm just pro rights and don't like the ideas of others signing mine away. Even things I don't agree with I wouldn't sign away because millions died to get them. It would be pretty classy if you really did make it pink and it would definitely be original. You should... I saw the lady (she's pretty hot, maybe about 35) with the Black/Tan 355 Spider F1 today. It was at the gas station on my way home from school. I wonder what she did to it now. It was all dirty. I would venture to guess that it is by far the most abused Ferrari ever, she hits something with it like every week. |

I know really. Here are some really classy quotes that one of my friends sent me. I say this as I hold a brew high, nothing like going on the internet with some beersky. Deep Thought: Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver." --by Jack Handy I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day. --Frank Sinatra The problem with some people is that when they aren't drunk, they're sober. --William Butler Yeats An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with his fools. --Ernest Hemingway Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut. --Ernest Hemingway Time is never wasted when you're wasted all the time. --Catherine Zandonella Abstainer: a weak person who yields to the temptation of denying himself a pleasure. --Ambrose Bierce Reality is an illusion that occurs due to lack of alcohol. --Anonymous Drinking provides a beautiful excuse to pursue the one activity that truly gives me pleasure, hooking up with fat hairy girls. -- Ross Levy A woman drove me to drink and I didn't even have the decency to thank her. --W.C. Fields What contemptible scoundrel has stolen the cork to my lunch? --W.C. Fields When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. --Henny Youngman Life is a waste of time, time is a waste of life, so get wasted all of the time and have the time of your life. --Michelle Mastrolacasa I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy. --Tom Waits 24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? --Stephen Wright When we drink, we get drunk. When we get drunk, we fall asleep. When we fall asleep, we commit no sin. When we commit no sin, we go to heaven. Sooooo, let's all get drunk and go to heaven! -- Brian O'Rourke You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. --Frank Zappa Always remember that I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me. --Winston Churchill Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. --Benjamin Franklin If you ever reach total enlightenment while drinking beer, I bet it makes beer shoot out your nose. --Jack Handy Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza. --Dave Barry The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind. --Humphrey Bogart Why is American beer served cold? So you can distinguish it from urine. --David Moulton Give me a woman who loves beer and I will conquer the world. --Kaiser Wilhelm I would kill everyone in this room for a drop of sweet, tasty beer. --Homer Simpson Not all chemicals are bad.
