Ok I will do a little more due diligence before I buy, car fax said the car was registered in nov of 2000 with 4300 miles on it. and I also have a copy of a major service done in Oct of 1997 at FoBH. I think I will not be hurt but will do what you have suggested to eleviate any future headaches.

Bob,
tough one.
9000 Miles is scary.
That car has not seen the road yet. I drive 9000 Mile swith my car every year. Not to worry though if the service is done right.
Again, contact your local F-dealer/service to find out how much a regular 30K is. I would say the engine has to come out. I would expect to change the waterpump now or soon. How long has the car been sitting since it was driven for a full day?
An engine that has not been turned frequently and has been used frequently will have some nicks that will have to be taken care of. All seals have to be lubbed properly not to dry out and crack etc.

Sounds like a nice car, I woudl try to get the price down by $10K and do the service myself. Find a good F-mechanic in your area. Other than Ferrari of XYZ. If you have a good mechanic you have better sleep at night. Your local Ferrari Owners Club may have an established relation with a Ferrari dealer reg. parts at X% off. The FOC has a 10% off with the Collection in Miami for example.

Well he offered to sell me the car for $7000.00 less instead of the service. He also sent me a list of things that were to be done in the 30k service and said this came directly from Ferraris checklist. He told me that he would include all changed parts and guaranty his work for 1 year. The car has only 9000 miles on it and is in great shape.

Thanks for the advice what now.

$75K,
that car better be in excellent condition.

Make sure he sends the car to a F-dealer for the service unless you have it sent to a service station you can trust. The 30K is a critical service. Belts and things have to be changed. If that is not done right you have to do it over. I can not believe that a dealer will do it and not save wherever he can. Don't do the waterpump...don't do the pullies etc. I can see the instructions to the mechanic if it comes out of his pocket.
Rather negotiate the price down by $ 10K, which that service is worth and do it yourself, where you know it is done right.

They could be making a Fortune on your Motors!

I am new to this list as a poster, but have been a lurker. My question is, I am in the process of buying a 91 Testarossa from a dealer in New Orleans ( Fortune Motors ) the guy I am dealing with is Wade Nunez, what I wanted to know is if anyone has had any dealing with him good or bad. and how is their service department. He is going to do a 30,000 miles service on the Testarossa when I buy it. I have pretty much made up my mind to buy the car, but just wanted a little reasurance before I send him $75,000.00. Any info can help. Just to let you know so far he has been very helpful and professional.
