The ABC Coverage was HORROR! I can't believe that these guys can't put together a group of fans that would have done a better job. Formula 1 is like ANY other sport ABC; get people that know it. Hobbs and the crew rule! If anyone watches WRC (world Rally) on speed they are crying that the announcer (last years british guy)has been replaced. I LIKE change, but at least find a really hungry WRC fan that has a little kick. These guys are like a fine sauce that adds real depth to an outstanding dish. IMHO |

Yeah, I can't wait to hear that Beverly Hills 90210 pretty boy dolt dish out some of the dumbest interviews and technical inaccuracies ever to be aired during a Formula One race!! |

I believe ABC has the broadcasting rights to the USGP, the Canadian GP, Monaco, and one other race this year. |

Wonderful!!! I am sure glad I am going to the F1 race at Indy this year. I don't think I could sit through another one of those terrible ABC broadcasts again. I am still having nighmares and flashbacks of the terrible coverage. I pitty all you poor folks who will have to watch it again this year. Jon

Sounds great. This beats last year when the contract wasn't set until the day before the season got off the ground. And having Hobbs and Matchett will be nice. They are very good, and Peter Windsor's paddock commentary is some of the best in the biz. Thank goodness F1 is saved for this season. |

That would make sense. They say enhanced coverage of Indy in the article, but that could be interpreted as either more, or supplemental depending on how the corporate propaganda writer felt that day. |

I wonder if this applies in Canada also, as CBC used to have the rights to broadcasting. They used to blackout speedvision or show informercials during all the F1 races.

Probably Indy which has been broadcasted by one of the networks (ABC?). |

SPPED Channel Announces F1 Broadcast Lineup Charlotte, N.C., February 25 SPEED Channel will again be home to Formula One racing in the United States, announcing it has reached an agreement to air live practice, qualifying and race coverage for nearly the entire 17-race Grand Prix schedule in 2002. "Formula One racing is an important part of SPEED Channel's core programming," said network President Jim Liberatore. "Having just moved past the 50-million household mark, I think it is important that we continue to demonstrate a commitment to being the premier television destination for all motor sports fans, and our F1 package certainly supports that philosophy." Veteran broadcaster Rick DeBruhl will lead the cast of SPEED Channel on-air talent, calling play-by-play, with analysis from former F1 driver David Hobbs and former F1 mechanic Steve Matchett. Peter Windsor will provide reporting from the paddock. SPEED Channel's Formula One season kicks off Thursday, Feb. 28 with practice from the Grand Prix of Australia at 9 p.m. (ET). SPEED Channel will provide live race coverage of 16 of the 17 events, with enhanced coverage of the United States Grand Prix. Most races will be replayed on same-day tape at 10 p.m. (ET) -- check local listings. SPEED Channel, the nation's fastest growing sports cable network, is the first and only 24-hour cable network devoted exclusively to motor sports and the human fascination for speed. In addition to extensive original NASCAR programming, SPEED Channel is home to much of the world's marquee racing events including CART, F1, Classic Cars, LeMans, the American LeMans Series, World Rally and car shows from around the globe. Currently seen in more than 50 million homes, SPEED Channel was acquired by Fox Cable Networks Group in July 2001.
