I have pulled a leaf from the wire mesh, but no small animals yet. I like the mesh screens for their functionality, but also because it makes the car unique. What I was most interested in was the originality of them. Thank you everyone for your input. FerrariChat and its membership continue to amaze me! |

That's not a bad idea really. It would be a lot easier to clean leaves and stuff off the wire mesh than it is to open up the airbox, or even better move the oil cooler and clean the front of it. |

You are correct Franklin. It is Germany that has a law against un guarded air intakes of a certian size! I guess they did not want any small animals sucked in a TR! |

Several countries in Europe have laws limiting the size of vents and other openings in the exterior of automobiles. In fact, I believe that that was one of the reasons Pininfarina designed the side strakes in the TR and later the 348 was because the opening was going to be too large for certain markets and wire mesh would have disrupted the air flow and affected engine cooling. |

My car is an 83 U.S and it does not have them. I test drove an 82 euro that did have them. I liked the way it looked and it seems like a good idea. |

Just for curiosity's sake, I have an '84 Euro 308 imported through Germany. The air intakes on both sides of the car have a wire mesh insert that is rivited into the bodywork. Every inidcation is that this is original per Germany specs. Does anyone else have this feature? |
