Well, the only difference b/w the 0W and 5W40 would be start up viscocity; the 0W has none at start up, the operating viscocity would be comparable to the Shell 5W40, since both have viscocity ratings of a 40W oil when up to temp.

Although it would never hurt to ask a F car mechanic; for piece of mind if nothing else.

Yes, I believe that is the weight used in P-cars now. I wonder if it's OK to use in the F-cars also.

Ernesto,

What weight Mobil 1 are you using? I don't believe 5W40 is available, is it?

Dave,
Quick word on Castrol Syntec: it isn't really a full synthetic, as the newest forumlation is made using a petroleum stock, hence your paying for synthtic while getting dressed up dino juice. And, oddly enough, the base from which Syntec is made is taken from Shell; raises a question about Shell's synthetics as well.

Read about it by clicking the link below:

My dealer is now using Castrol Syntec for my 550 instead of Helix, since it's only $4 a quart.

Any Shell Gas station can order Helix by the case for you, Buying it through the Ferrari dealer is a rip-off.

5/40 Shell Helix is rec by F since Shell is a race sponsor. My guy says any good synthetic is as good at 1/2 the price but assuming your car is under warranty better stick with Shell for obvious reasons.
I have oil changed every 3 k mi and haven't added any in the intervals.(car has 10k mi)-'99 Euro.

Jay,
In 3000 miles, my 360 has used about 1/3 litre, based on it being 1 litre between min & max. Oil level measured with the engine at operating temp and idling as in the handbook. In the UK, the oil is available from any Shell gas station.

My 355 with 30K miles burns about 1 cup (1/8 litre) per 2000 miles.

The engine oil specified for the 360 is Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 synthetic oil. Available only through the dealer for $15 to $20 per liter depending on location. My car has burned 1/2 a liter in the first 5000 miles.

What weight of oil is recommended by Ferrari for the engine in the 360?

Also, out of curiosity, have any of you 360 owners experienced any oil consumption? If so, at what rate does it consume?

Thanks in advance.
