I am running throough the same thing with the 348 Spider I have coming from LA.

They promissed to pick up between 6/23 and 6/25 and actually picked up 6/28. The only reason I went with VIP Transport is, that they said for sure they would pick up by then and their turn around to Miami is 7-10 days.
The 10 days would have pout me to July 4th originally. Monday I am told late Tuesday delivery. Yesterday I am told late Wednesday or early Thursday.

I am pretty pissed as well. After all it is money floating on a truck. I will try to get some money back from them otherwise I can not recommend shipping with VIP.

sounds like you got a Minter considering it wasn't a NEW car, jeez I'm mega fussy but you sound 'extreme' (apart from the wheel scratch, which I would be pissed about).

For a phone deal seems like you've been very lucky, surely things could have turned out a zillion percent worse than you have experienced!

I used to be obsessed with scratches on my black 360. They don't bother me anymore. Just drive and enjoy the car.

Ernesto, how did you mess up the F1 paddles? They look fine on mine after 10K+ miles.

HOLY ... $1800 for a detail job? Did you get a tune up?

PS, my 360 already has two scratched wheels, LOTS of rock chips on the bumper, a few scratches, the f1 paddles are all messed up, etc etc. Who cares? drive it, and once a year or so try to fix a few problems...

Forget fixing the scratches, drive the car and enjoy it. If you drive it like it is meant to be driven those will seem pretty minor later.
Have fun.

Just curious who the Pateraks are... I would love to know more about an $1,800 detail job! :-)

Geez, i don't know, i think given the fact that you apparently bought a used car, you did OK. The obvious defects can be remedied by the dealer, at little or no cost to you, so much depends on how the dealer wants to handle it: eg. reimbursing you for a killer detailing by your person of choice (the pateraks charged close to 1800 dollars to prep my car for the R&T photo shoot); the wheel replaced or buffed out, at (at most) an accomodation price... The real proof will be to see how the dealer responds if there are "latent" defects that only reveal themselves after driving the car a bit. Gotta tell ya, doesn't sound like you got boned so far...

Russell,

I think you are very kind on your dealer rating. The wheel scratch misrepresentation is pretty bad. Most wheel scratches can be fixed by specialized wheel shop. I think I would get a quote and ask the dealer to pay for repair.

"I would say the car is 97% as advertised." That's amazingly good! ;) I'm glad your experience was a "mostly" good one. Now enjoy!

Well it finally got here. I had ordered a 2000 360 from Auto Gallery in LA (formerly Ogner) sight unseen based on their description. How did it turn out? For the most part very well. here are the details (in no particular order) along with the level of accuracy:

Miles--1122--matched within 1/2 mile when car arrived.

Delivery time--most dissapointing. I was GUARANTEED that it would be to me no later than July 1 (I was going out of town for the 4th). It was supposed to be sent June 24th. Well it was sent on the 24th, but the shipper claims it never told them 5 days, and that 5 days from LA to DC would NEVER happen. They have 6 cars per truck and make constant pickups and dropoffs. 10-14 days should have been (and they claim was) quoted. So, the car would arrive on July 5th or so. Because I was out of town then, I rescheduled to the 8th. I suspect the Shipper was truthful and the dealer not, but of ocurse I will never know.

Contract procedure: Second biggest hassle. I thought I was done on Friday the 21st, I even wired the money to them. I was told the car would be on the truck on the 22nd. I got a call at 9pm eastern time that night that there were more papers that needed to be signed first. They said they HAD to be ORIGINAL sigs, and a fax would not do. So they overnighted things for me to sign (saturday delivery). Of course these agreements did not speak to color, options, car condition etc as had out prior written documents. It also had what we lawyers call a "merger clause" which basically says, and means, that this document represents the entirety of the agreement, and any prior agreement either written or oral "does not count." Well it took fours hours to get close to the right language added to this agreement to reflect the deal that was struck.

The condition of the car: How picky should one be? I was told no scratches at all, no evidence of any paint work (including touch up paint) Perfectly clean showroom car. When the car arrived, it had a few tiny tiny tiny nicks (looked like dust on the car, but would not come off). I really dont mind these, as I am sure I would put these on with about 10 minutes of driving. And to be honest because the car is in TDF metallic blue they look like metallic flecks. They are very hard to see, the shipper (passport) pointed them out to me or I would not have noticed.

There is; however, about a 1 inch scratch on the front passenger wheel. I find this a bit annoying. Not because of the scratch itself (I have done the same to all of my cars), but because of the misrepresentation. I may contact the dealer about this, but I have not yet decided what to ask for.

In addition my wife sound a bit of touch up paint on the bumper. Well hell it is a bumper and these cars ARE made to be driven.

All in all the car was very clean, just not precisely as advertised.

Summary--
The car: As I am jumping through Maryland registration hoops I have no "real tags" so have only been able to drive the car for a couple of miles. The car is GREAT (but I already knew this).
The dealer: Well, I would say the car is 97% as advertised. It really looks like it is in great condition, and all of the mechanicals seem to operate properly. I am a bit annoyed about the scratch on the wheel and the BS on delivery date. I would rate them a 7. I probably would buy from them again, as a 7 is a pretty good rating when you are buying blind from a dealer 3000 miles away.

The shipper: Passport. They seemed great. very accomadating. I would rate them a 9.5.

The car: In general a 9. (the spyder gets my vote for a 9.5 and nobody ever gets a 10). "My" 360, an 8.9 because of the small scratch on the wheel.

I will let everyone know how the car really runs when I really get to run it.

Thanks to all on the board for all of the advice.
