Solly,
Maybe this will help parting with your Dino. I bought my 360F1 in Nov 2000 and decided right then to sell my BB which I'v had since new (1981). It took me 15 months but finally sold it last month. my heart aches a little but if you're like me and enjoy the latest technologies and what "Modern" Ferrari is all about, you will forget the Dino after a while. I did not regret selling my 288 either and if I could afford it at that time I would have bought an F40 and replaced it with an F50 later. I happen to think Ferrari is all about advance technology and innovation and I will always try to keep up with it. Remember, the Old Man said "the best Ferrari is the next one".

Solly,
Congrats on a great looking 360, but are you sure you want to sell the Dino? I only say this because I think you have one of the most gorgeous 246 GTS out there. You know, they're not making them anymore...

I bet the first thing that guy in the acura did was call all of his friends and told them that he beat a ferrari in a race, just like in that movie. You should have thrown on the hazards to let him know that u won and were slowing down. Its good that you are too smart to race some stupid acura that (unless its an nsx) probably is worth under $20k in a car that is worth well over $200k. You definately have nothing to prove to them. I personally dont like to race people in anyting other than off the line because i dont trust their driving skill, or mine for that matter. Have fun with that new car, but try to ignore the kids in civics, just give them a rev of the engine and let them know who's boss.

Just got back from a high speed run down 95, that 360 is SCARY FAST!! I'm too used to the Dino.

Around Ft. Lauderdale picked up a tail of 5-6 rice burners of various ilk, with assorted boy racer wannabes behind the wheel, but made short work of them, except for one pesky Acura which had more than just a coffe can muffler. My better judgement took over at 120 mph with construction ahead and I let him by. I feel I am a disgrace to Maranello. Go ahead, you can all make fun of me now.

Nice car Solly. My uncles former boss just sold his Saleen modified Ford Mustang and bought himsef a new 360 as well. :-) Black/black with an exaust. I think it's a Tubi, donno but it sounded really loud from the passenger seat. :-)

Nice choice!!

Cool car Solly. Congrats again. I think you'll like it more than the Dino. I still like that little black cavallino, but the 360 does have quite a few advantages going for it.

Solly: A last minute thought here, but the Amelia Island event just started (March 7-10)and when it is over, there is a Rally beginning and ending there, courtesy of Rich Taylor. I did one a few years ago in the northeast, and he organizes a good event. Just a thought. (Then, after 5 days of cranking, have the car shipped back...).

Can't wait to get down to Fla. next week to play. Anyone coming to Le Belle Macchine at Pocono this June?

As far as the Dino-loved it, still love it, but no power on the track. Going to track the 360 whenever I can. Going to try to keep the Dino if I find space for it in NY. Garages all full.

It is your life, but I would also recommend driving it.

I have always heard that the rings need to be set with some "b... to the wall" driving. Get a V-1. Do the speed limit within 20 miles of any city/town that may have cops or within 20 miles of a state line.

Have a blast, life is too short not to.

Curious, why did you decide to buy the 360 over the Dino you had?

Congrads,
Dave

20 hours. Solly I sincerely hope in such a fine piece of machinery you could make better time than that. My friend use to make it in less than that in his Hummer. Solly you could make it in 15 easily, just get a radar detector and carry a lot of cash with you. Seriously though, I will agree that 95 may be the most boring road ever, next to route 80 of course. I don't know that I would want to make a long drive like that even longer though. I would just bite the bullet and hit 95 at excessive speeds.

Drive it. I bought my first and only ferrari (so far) from Bud about 5 years ago. Flew down, he had a limo meet my brother and I at the Ft Lauderdale airport. I signed all the papers that evening, stayed at Pier 66 for the night, picked up the car Saturday morning and drove straight home to Ottawa. It was a real treat, first time in a Ferrari and I spent about 30 hours driving home. Oh yeah I did this in Novemeber, almost ran into a snow storm in the Scranton PA area.

I say drive it too. When I bought my 400GT in Pa. I drove it home to Atlanta and it was a blast. In fact, I have taken many road trips in my Ferraris over the years. Atlanta to Indy for the USGP. Atlanta to Cape San Blas for a beach holiday. Atlanta to Jackson, Ms. for a FCA event. And many more.

Steve, drive that thing home. I bought my 308 is upstate New York, and drove her home to Atlanta with my best friend Jeff. It was the road trip of a life time and I'll never forget it. Congrats on the car!

Oh, twice now, I have been driving the 308 and I encountered a red/tan 360 spider with the top down, that car looks incredible on the road.

Drive it...I got to look at the rear of one earlier this week on I-35 South out of Wichita. Two guys in a red 360 spider with Texas tags. It was a little after 5:30AM and I was headed back to Tulsa and just cruising comfortably about 90mph. I saw the lights approaching and they slowed down as they passed and we exchanged waves hen they were off. We travelled a few miles at about 125 and then "poof" they hit it and were gone. Damn that's a great looking ass on the 360! Got me thinking about another road trip.....yeah....drive it back.

Drive that fine car home. Just do it. A cross country in a Ferrari is rare thing. Enjoy some sights and enjoy yourself. Sing with the stereo and listen to the motor howl and just enjoy the sights and sounds of the whole experience. If you need any motivation at all, just read Keith Martins opening article in the latest Sports Car Market about driving his latest Mondial Cab he bought and the drive home to Portland from California. Seeing our great country from the seat of your NEW 360 Spider....is there anything better?? We will live that dream through you as most of us will never have that joy. I hope you do it....JMHO...Dave

Well, after weeks of driving myself nuts I finally did it. Came to a deal with Bud Root this morning for a 2001 360 Spider, 400 miles, yellow/black. Car looks awesome. I will post pictures when I go down to Fla. in a few weeks to play with it.

The Dino is now officially for sale, and I will miss it. It's consigned to Shelton, but if it doesn't sell at a reasonable price in a few months I will keep it and find storage somewhere.

I'm still totally flipped out that I actually did this.
