In my 512TR I mounted my V1 on its windshield suction mount between the windshield and rear view mirror so that from behind all you see is the rear view mirror and the part of the detector which has the rear receiver. From the rear it is invisible outside the car and from the front it gets lost between the glass and the mirror. You need to leave enough room to reach knob that controls volume and mode. The wire is then pressed between the windshield and the interior top trim and similarly led down the windshield post to under the dash. I would also recommend attaching the wire to the rearview mirror post so that if the V1 comes unstuck from its suction cups that it will dangle from the rearview mirror instead of falling down and bringing all of the wire with it. I used a small black electrical tie. I then mounted the remote indicator in an area above the steering wheel so that when the remote indicator lights up it is easily seen by me, but not by others. While this may not be as elaborate and professional as the methods posted by others, it is easily removed without damaging the car and looks and performs great. |

I have mounted a v1 on the passenger sun visor because it is less visible from outside. On the pic below you can bearly see it on the left of the rear view mirror. (see pic below). Also, the remote display is very convenient. You can get some switched power source from the interior light housing. There was a thread about this in the tech q&a section a few weeks ago. Basically open the housing following the instructions describing how to change lights. There are 4 wires, 1 of them provides switched 12v power that you can use for your v1 AW http://home.pacbell.net/arnweber/dsc00045.jpg http://home.pacbell.net/arnweber/dsc00054.jpg

I have the V1 hard wired into my battery.Only thing that shows is the last 3" of the jack (and or course the V1)That way I can use the detector in other cars. |

Jammers are available, the question is how to disguise it so that don't find it. I was thinking that I would get one, and put the working parts into my detector, and put the detector into the jammer case. Then if they take the "Jammer" they've got the wrong one, and can't prove their case. Anyone else with ideas? |

I have had the k-40 installed on a number of cars, with the displays hidden in a piece of two way mirror glass in my rear view. Total stealth install. Now i have seen Valentine's being installed that way. Apparently, Escort now makes a modular system that can be installed discreetly. I know there has been alot of controversy over the positive reviews of the Escort, some saying that the review was basically bought and paid for by the company. Next one i do will probably be a valentine, stealth style. I have seen internet sites offering active jammers. They are totally illegal to my knowledge but, hey, that's why there are speed limits, right? My last speed on the taconic never triggered the radar system, which usually goes banannas when instant on is anywhere near it. |

I hear you Art, I've been nailed with instant on as well. The only good defense is going to be an active jammer. I would love to know if anyone makes an active jammer(they are illegal in this country) outside of the U.S. I would loveto buy one and bring it in, or if someone has the ability, pay to have one built. |

I heard that jammers are useless since they are passive jammers. you wouls need an active jammer but i dont know where u could buy those. Also, cops can write you a ticket based on visual estimation of speed, so even if the jammer does work he (possibly she) can still write you a ticket. The good thing about valentine 1 is it tells u how many radar sources there are in and which direction they are in. I think Willis has one installed in his 360. The job was so good it looks like it came from the factory. |

Valentine 1 is a good detector, but with the new instant on, it doesn't work all the time. I'm proof of that. A Jammer is what's needed, anyone know of how well they work, if what the penalties are if you get caught with one? |

Install shouldn't be too hard. I swear by the Valentine as well. I think there are a couple of guys on this board who have installed V1s in their 360s. |

I have been a big fan of the Valantine 1 . Saved my ass many times in my M5. Can you install easy in a 360 or is the K40 (recommended by Miller Motors) installation the way to go? |
