The pads need to be pulled, cleaned, dust out the caliper, add some adhesive backed pads to the brake pad which effectively glue the pad to the caliper piston. it may stop for a while. Common since the asbestos free pads came along. As you release the brake pressure, the piston seal returns to it's natural shape and at that time pulls back the piston (less than 0.005") releasing the brakes. Any dust/ surface roughness can catch and cause the pad to vibrate (squeal) so we try to stick them to the piston to maximise the pad to rotor clearance.

My 355's brakes squeeked like crazy. The dealer put some silicon-like material on the pads which helped for a few weeks then started all over again. My 360 doesn't squeek so F must have changed something.

Sorry...the end of my post should have stated.."I am not sure if any other Ferrari's squeak. You may want to glance at the pads, if they still have alot of life try scuffing the pad with some 180 grit sandpaper, I have found that sometimes this will help. Especially where a car is driven in alot of stop and go traffic.

Usually brake squeak or sqelch is caused by....glazed pads, too hard of an aftermarket pad, slick rotors(caused by too hard of a pad), lack of anti-squeak backing material on pad....these are some of the common causes in all brakes...my 308 does not squeak and I am sure not all Ferrari squeak either.

I've noticed that the brakes on a particular model F355 tend to squeak when coming to a stop. The owner said that this is normal due to the metal discs. Is this true? If so what is the exact reason why the brakes squeak so loudly when stopping? Do all Ferraris do this?
