did anyone have a problem getting onto the track? Still room?

I'm going to change my reservation from Split Rock to the Ramada if they still have rooms tomorrow.

Stacy said that she hired a few real cops to watch the parking lot that will only house our cars not the general publics. They should be safe.

Last year the cars were at a different hotel up N of the track & a few cars got keyed by some delinquents including a gorgeous candy apple red Countach, u really have to b a royal first class jerk to mess up a piece of art like that.

My cars sleep in my 2 car trailer with the trailer & truck alarmed.

I hope they have better security this year

Guy's;

I spoke with Stacy ( Group Sales Mgr ) at the Ramada 800-251-2610, they made a mistake and did not inform the front desk of availability of rooms as she took all of them out of the computer for this event at the special price. If you call her or the front desk she will take care of you. Plenty of rooms avail at $103 / night.

Pocono is not that technically complex like Watkins Glen but it is a VERY fast track, the first time u get on the banking u may have to change your shorts :-) I come out of the banking doing like 130 or so & get close to 170 by the kink which is the tunnel turn, then u need some Extremely heavy braking to get u set up for the hairpin into the infield.

If u havent been on the track much I would suggest u try for blue till u get comfortable with the speeds at Pocono.

Black & red group have some wickedly fast cars, F40 LMs, 333SP, 512M racers, 600hp + Panteras etc

I took the Skip Barber Racing School and the Car Control Clinic, as well as the 2 day driving school. I qualify for an SCCA license but never bothered getting it. I have participated in only 2 track events since the school. Which class should I enter in at Pocono? I'll be bringing the 360.

Bret u dont have to go to Phoenix, Skip Barbers home track is Lime Rock in CT. I suggest u do their 3 day school then check out LRP's website, maybe its Limerock.com & get their club schedule then sign up for a bunch of track days this summer with different clubs. I will be running LRP this summer with FCA, PDA, PCA, AMOC, & TrackMasters :-)

I see. I look at $3000 and think a set of rims. I think hooking up with either the BMWCCA or NASA would be good. How can I find out about them?

The BEST thing is to go to a serious school like Bondurant in Phoenix, but it'll cost ya. About $2800 for 3 days, but worth every penny! You can go to local driving schools like the ones put on by BMWCCA or NASA. They are typically about $300 for 2 days and give OK instruction.

William (or anyone else), what's the best way to get your first taste of track time? I've grown up around cars, raced quite a few go karts in low tuned form, used to race dirt bikes and ride them a ton, point is I've been around quite a few races, but never really these Fcar track events. I would like to get involved in these track sessions and stuff in the future.

George, it depends on which class u want to run in. There r 4 classes + a 75 mph lunch time touring session

White for beginners

Blue for Intermediate

Red & Black run together. Red is advanced, Black is race rs in race cars. I run here.

for blue & white u can run with long pants & a long sleeved shirt, they do want to see a Snell 2000 Auto racing helmet though. These have a nomex lining which the motorcycle helmets do not

for red & black u need a nomex racing suit

all cars must have a fire extinguisher inside the cockpit & correct speed rated tires

hope to see u there :-)

This is going to be my first year at this event as an entrant (TR). Any suggestions for the concours or the driving event would be appreciated. I am an old?? SCCA approved driver from the 60s'. Do I need a drivers suit...shoes..is my motorcycle helmet (Snell 2000) OK? This sounds like a blast from the past! Any suggestions /help are appreciated.

I don't know about track, etc. but I would definitely consider checking out the event. I'm kind of up in the air right now with my car and all so I have to wait a bit, which will most likely mean that I will miss any chance of a reservation etc. Sleeping in a Ferrari can't be all that bad...

William, I do not know the building, but will call and find out tomorrow. Are you bringing the same mechanic, Darren/Derrick?, that was at Limerock? Cool dude!!!

Adam, There is still availabilty but only beginning on June 30. The wine festival is booked that Saturday. I was planning on coming early on June 30 for the track day and still until July 2. The wine festival runs that entire Sunday also. The rates were from 125 or so to about 300. There were like 3 rooms left for the wine fstival which is on June 28 and 29. That cost was 965/per person which includes the wine tastings, breakfast, dinner etc. You can however do the wine tasting stuff without buying the rooms that go with it -- that's what we are doing. I might come in the Saturday and just stay the night at a different hotel, do the concours, do the wine show, then switch hotels. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up William. The show's site is sending people to the Woodlands resort which is really 32 miles north and I thought it was the host hotel. I changed to Spilt Rock (which is nicer anyway). I got lucky too as Split Rock is having a wine tasting that weekend also.

June 28- July 1, both the Best Western & Ramada Inn r already sold out but they have rooms at the Best Western in Wilkes Barre about 16 miles N. SPlit Rock Resort which is right next to the Ramada may also have rooms available.

I wonder where they will hold the Concours cus I remember this Ramada as being rather small.

I like it better when the Concours is in a field rather than a parking lot

This event is awesome. Its the biggest Italian Exotic fest on the East Coast and unlike the Concorso Italiano u get quality track time here at Pocono International. Ive seen almost 170 mph in my 512TR near the tunnel turn :-)
Its open to all Ferraris, Lambos, DeTomaso's, Maserati's, Lancias, Alfa Romeo's maybe a few FIATs too
