I was visiting Ferrari of Washington one time when a salesman told me of a customer who ordered cars and when they came in, he would send a truck to get them. From there they went into his living room!
I have turned cars pretty fast. Too many great cars, too little time. I tell my wife I can trade cars or women. She sees the wisdom in my ways.

Notice he even got his wheels lined up perfectly and his logos rotated to stand up. That's attention to detail. (Otherwise known as obsessive compulsive disorder) :-) He's even got a chair sitting facing the car so he can sit there and look at it.

Jim, I am with you. The California Spyder is the most beautifull Ferrari of all.

My father´s, white and tan LWB, is being restored by someone who would probably not want me to give out his name.

There is no way I could afford the car at this point!

Cheers

Tino...thanks for sharing your experiences with Countach ownership -- very enlightening to say the least. Sorry to hear that you had so much trouble with your '88 . Hmmm...think I'm starting to reconsider now. Perhaps I should plan on parking the Countach in my living room as well after purchase .

Eric,
About the Countach, I agree with your friend...and more. I bought my 88 new and kept it for three years. Sold it with about 3K miles, half a dozen warranty files, four flat-bed truck reciepts and two separate fire experiences, one electric and one fuel, fortunately both extinguished immediately. A true nightmare of a car ! (but it looked and sounded good)

William H...Wow, 12 years of QV ownership, that's great! Plan to keep mine for a long time as well. Do you have any pictures of your 308QV that you could post? Would love to see them! Still saving for the Countach, by the way . Just out of curiosity, how has your Countach ownership been so far? A buddy of mine had an '89 Anniv. model for only about 6 months and sold it (and never offered me a ride either!)-- now owns a 360 modena. I asked him how it was to own / drive / maintain -- he said it drove like a dump truck, shifted like a dump truck, etc., etc. -- wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear. Oh well, I still plan to own a Countach someday soon -- would love a QV model, but may have to settle for an earlier LP model.

Hi Tino,

I think your party is the one which is going to be spoiled! Here is the story:

My father buys his first Ferrari in 1953:

212 Inter Vignale #0217EL

He trades it in for a 250 GT California Spyder in 1958 (or 59)

I am born in 1960, and for the next thirty years I hear him talk about his first Ferrari. He passes away in 1990.

In June 2000,I purchase (recover?) #0217EL, which returns to the family after more than 40 (!!!) years.

It is now being restored to the exact condition and appearance it had when my father used it. And I don´t think it is ever, ever going to be sold again.

What do you think of that for a love affair?

Cheers,

figaro

I don't want to spoil your party but a real love affair with your Ferrari is when you keep it for a long, long time. I've had my BB512 for just under 21 years (May 1981). Is there anyone on this forum who can beat that ?

Someone on this site had their 355 in their living room, well not living room, but a room along these lines. I think it was a challenge car, but I can't remember for sure.

I have a walk out basement with sliding doors. I wanted to remove the sliding doors and drive the GT4 into the basement to do work on it. My wife was even up for it! Then I got my grandfathers garage so I didn't have to.:-)

How low is too low for humidity? When will the rubber and interior start drying out and crack?

I am wrapping my garage in 6mill plastic, like they use on the bottom of concrete slabs. I am then sheetrocking the garge.I have started totaly sealing the whole garage.
Of course I have the car sitting next to de-humitifier.
So, far with just the plastic up it never gets above 80%. Usually around 45%. the test will be summer 100% Humitiy mornings.
I leave next to the Honey Island Swamp.

There was once a guy in Jersey,
who had an F-40, t'was purdy.
He loved it so much, he built it a house,
but when the sheriff came to call,
after he lost all his dough, they
had to tear down the room into which it was installed.

This is a true story; car was on Algar's showroom floor several yrs. ago, with 87 miles, shortly after it was repo'd; article in local paper showed wall being removed to retrieve car.

There is a guy here in Florida who actually keeps his 308 GTS Ferrari in his living room. He has large glass sliding doors on one side of the room and a driveway up to it. He and his wife have their furniture arranged around it and decorate accordingly. Has anyone else heard of another unusual way of garageing your Ferrari such as this?
