WA State has a visible from front requirement. Since my car was purchased out of state, I claim no bracket and keep it on my passenger visor. My local State Patrol friends says that this and a decent attitude is fine. |

Martin: I make a good living on people who don't watch out for the lights, thank you. Art |

The light system is tricky. I usually try and stop, but sometimes you obviously can't. It makes a weird situation because you don't want to speed through a light of all places, but the way it's set up this happens often. I don't see it changing though anytime soon. |

Here yellow means look up to see if they have a traffic camera mounted, look around, and then punch it! |

I have to go thorugh a school zone in the monring and the only people speeding through the school zone are: the mothers dropping off kids and the school busses ! I guess if your kids can not get hurt because they are in your car it is not as bad. but you can hear them cry out when their kids get run over on the streets buy somebody speeding. F'd up world! |

Brett: In our lovely city, there are numerous people who love to run the lights. The front plate lets the authorties catch them, cuts down on that type of behavior. They did that because of the injuries and deaths caused by the light runners. HOWEVER people driving Ferraris generally don't run lights because of the consequences to their cars, and aren't the type to do that anyway (generally light runners are women in SUV with kids in the back or YUPPIES on their cells phones)

I love it how these aholes have nothing better to do than hunt you down for a front plate. Unless there are absolutely no murders, rapes, theft, etc in your area I think they could spend their time doing things a little more important than getting these out of control anti plate trouble makers. |

Here is another goofy reason you have to have the front plate. I was once stopped for the same thing but hand no front plate at all to put on. I had to go to the DMV to order new plates. I asked them what the reason for the additional plate was? The answer they gave me was " in case you loose the rear plate you have to put the front plate in the back". This is sooooooo stupid cause I already had the plate in the back and had to get new plates anyway. I has to be a money making ploy buy some "genius" that no longer is around. |

My son has my "LOTUSH" front plate on his wall. Should I carry it with me as a help to get off with just a warning? |

ACW: If you are insistant upon a court resolution, I suggest that you're approach be interferance with interstate commerce. Since the Feds approved the car without any provision for a front plate, then California cannot supercede the federal regulations. I don't know how well that argument would work, but I'd give it a try. I also live in California and practice law here (SF Bay Area) I have always taken the easy way out: I carry the plate, never got a ticket. If I do get a ticket, I'll use two sided tape, put it on, and as soon as I'm out of the sight of the officer, remove it until the next ticket. If you make an issue out of it, and you lose, the courts have ways of imposing penalties that keep you from repeating that sort of behavior. I'd save my fights until they are needed. If you want you can email me at [email protected] and I'll provide more detail. Art |

Yes! I remembered and tried the "it's on order from the factory" excuse. It was also very credible because I received the plates last week. The officer smilled and told me I will have at least one month to fix it. Plenty of time to receive and install the very special part... Anyone in California tried the court approach? I'm not even sure where to start... Can I hire a lawyer or is it like small claim courts? Thanks! AW |

I don't have a front plate. Top excuses: "It's on order from the factory; you KNOW how long it takes!" and "It will ruin the car's value etc." (as stated below). "I was just trying to figure out how to mount it. Do you have any ideas?" I like the exemption from the judge idea the best! |

NY state has the same requirement. If you look in the parts manual there is a front lic. plate bracket . You can either try to find one of these or make your own or go without. |

I live in California. In my area we have more and more cameras mounted on red lights to automatically catch violations. Because of this, law enforcement no longer tolerate lack of front license plates. I like the double side tape idea. Maybe I could glue some screew heads on the plate and use double side tape to hold the plate to the car AW

I politely break the law in MD and have never put on the front plate. I got a warning once from an officer but never did anything about it -- that was 3 years ago now. |

I've gtottne warnings, but no ticket. I carry the plate in the car, and when asked, put it in the windshield. Seems to work. There is no way to mount this without screwing up the car. Art |

WHere do u live ? I live in CT & never run a front plate, never will. I heard a guy on the Viper forum went to the Judge & got an exemption for his car cus he told the Judge it was a special & very expensive car & mounting a front plate would mean damaging his property. The C5 Corvette has a very cool answer to this, u can buy an optional clear front liscence plate cover & the plate mounts within the bumper, nothing poking out & messing up your aerodynamics |

Use 2 sided tape to put it on, then go to the police station and have them fill out the form saying u corrected the problem, then remove the plate. If there is any glue left from the tape glaze or polish will take it off. |

Today I received a "fix-it" ticket because my 360 does not have a front license plate. I'm suppose to add the license plate and then show it to some officer. What is the best way to mount a front license plate on a 360? Is there any way not to drill holes in the front bumper? Thanks AW
