I've considered starting something like this only not in this manner. The way it would be set up is just like any Country Club with a golf course, only instead of a golf course it would be a couple race tracks for members to use, some garages with hydro lifts for the do it yourselfers that do not have all the tools. Just like any CC you reserve the garage for a time you want pull in and have a world class garage full of the best tools at your disposal, and the race track, well members would finally get to drive their cars they way they were meant to be and do it relativly safely.

It sounds like a scam still. If the $ 250.000 is refundable how easy will they refund it?
I'd go in and "rent" for one montha dn decide I want back out. $ 1800 does not cover the cost of a $300,000 car! Not even taking mechanics into consideration on the F40 or F50 or GTO.

"Too good to be true" - likely it is just that!

The only other person to drive mine is my dad, there are a couple Fcar guys that if they wanted to take a ride I would let them though, other than that no one.

I am not that nice to my wife. :-) I did let my airplane mechanic drive it once, under heavy supervision. I put that under keeping good business relationships. I got more than excellent service on the airplane after that.

Tim, I share this same sentiment. My TR is very personal to me. My wife has only driven it once in 2 years...and under heavy supervision :-)

Basically no one drives my car!!

I think Enzo was against sharing cars. I thought he felt cars were personal and reflected their owners or something.

I know some people like Martin said that lose money on cars all the time, although they are probably younger (I don't hang out with too many businessmen) they are not the type I would lend a car.

Gee all I need is a car trading club, a wife swapping club, and a condo trading club... and I'm not sure I'd know who I'd be any more :-)

Martin, like you mentioned, some people trade monthly and lose tens of thousands with each trade. This kind of deal might make sense for them.

Martin, it does not seem too bad to me. Your $250K membership fee is refundable when you are ready to quit. $1800 a month and shipping seems like a bargain to me for some of the cars on that list. How many of us would not pay $1800 and shipping costs to enjoy a 288 GTO for a month? Like Art said though, the condition of the cars is something to consider.

I can not believe that anybody would do that!
On the other hand I know people that change cars every month and take $ 20,000 losses everytime they change them.

I started thinking about that...the condition of the car could vary so much. But I love the idea.

Tyler:

I've seen this on other threads before. I think that the cost vs. ownership vs. the condition is what kills the concept.

Do any of you guys do this? I'm not sure if they are an honest outfit or not, but it looks to be a way to drive the whole line-up with out having to lay out the cash for the individual cars. Interesting idea. Good selection of cars and with the refundable membership fee seems to be priced fair(considering).
